Stellaris: How to Get a Titan Ship Early On | CBR

The Titan class ship is considered one of the best ships to add to your fleets in Stellaris. These are massive, intimidating and heavily armored, with a main weapon that is capable of destroying a battleship in a single shot fired from great distance. However, building a Titan requires the Apocalypse expansion, as well as a lengthy process that typically won’t be available till late in a session.

To obtain a Titan through normal means, players will need to research the technology after completing research on all other ship types. Then, they’ll need to add a Titan Shipyard building onto a starbase. After that comes actually building the Titan, which requires at least a couple thousand alloy and can take three to four in-game years to complete — but there is a way to get one early on at a fraction of the cost and effort.

With the Ancient Relics story DLC installed, one of the archeology sites can reward players with a Titan. When surveying a random Tomb, Desert, Savanah or Arid World, a dig site called “The Grand Herald” might appear. Players will first need to claim the system this planet is located in by building a starbase. Next, they’ll need a science ship that’s commanded by a scientist to start researching the site.

Since this site is one of the more difficult to research, players should assign their highest-level scientist. The operation will go through five stages that reward minor artifacts after each stage until the final sixth stage uncovers the Titan. It turns out the planet’s long dead inhabitants were in the process of building the massive warship to combat an incoming threat to their world. However, they failed to complete it before said unknown threat arrived and wiped them out.

When adding the Titan to your fleet, it’ll most likely be in a moderately to heavily damaged state. It should immediately be sent to a starbase with a shipyard to undergo repairs, as sending it into battle right away runs the risk of it being destroyed. This site has also become exceedingly rare to come across after the 2.3 patch which nerfed the site’s appearance in an effort to balance the game. However, those who are lucky enough to come across this incredible weapon of interstellar warfare will be able to easily dominate their Empire’s rivals — and might even defeat a few guardian creatures early on.
