Superheroes have been part of pop culture for over half a century, and in 1962, Marvel Comics introduced Spider-Man. The hero quickly became one of Marvel’s best, mainly because young men were able to relate to him. Spider-Man possesses enhanced strength, the ability to climb walls and produce webs, and a Spider-Sense that alerts him to danger. At the same time, he is still a young crime-fighter who has to deal with things like school, work, and relationships.
The comic book universe is vast, but the anime universe is just as big, and it is filled with villains who all possess unique skills and powers. Spider-Man has faced some pretty tough villains in the MCU, which is why he should be able to take on a few anime villains.
10 SPIDER-MAN CAN BEAT: Spinner’s Quirk Gives Him The Powers Of A Gecko (My Hero Academia)
One of the harshest realities about quirks in My Hero Academia is the fact that some quirks give people monstrous appearances. Spinner is a villain who possesses the Gecko quirk, and as the name suggests, it gives him the appearance and abilities of a gecko.
Unlike Spider-Man, Spinner does not have any super strength or enhanced reflexes, which means that he would probably get knocked out with a single punch or kick. He does carry a large makeshift sword, but Spider-Man can easily immobilize them both with his webs.
9 WOULD LOSE TO: Spider-Man Can’t Overcome Madara’s Sharingan (Naruto Shippuden)
Madara may have his weaknesses, but he is still an unimaginably powerful ninja. The legendary Uchiha possesses the Sharingan, an eye with the ability to read his opponent’s movements. Spider-Man may be fast, but even his movements can be tracked by Madara, which means that he can dodge most of the hero’s attacks.
The Mangekyo Sharingan gives Madara even more abilities, but he tends to only use the Susanoo, which is a massive avatar equipped with a sword that can alter the entire landscape with a single attack. Spider-Man wouldn’t be able to break through the Susanoo’s defenses, and if Madara feels like using his Rinnegan, he’ll be able to call meteors down from space.
8 SPIDER-MAN CAN BEAT: Tsukasa May Be Strong, But He’s Not As Strong As Spider-Man (Dr. Stone)
Anime is filled with fearless fighters like Tsukasa from Dr. Stone. This young man served as the series’ first main antagonist, and thanks to all his years as an MMA fighter, he became a beast capable of performing incredible feats of strength.
It’s true that Tsukasa is a great fighter with an incredibly durable body, but Spider-Man can lift several tons by himself. Tsukasa’s strength is dwarfed by Spider-Man’s, and the web-slinger happens to also be an expert acrobat who can use his Spider-Sense to avoid Tsukasa’s attacks.
7 WOULD LOSE TO: Barragan Can Kill Spider-Man By Rapidly Aging Him (Bleach)
Barragan is one of the only characters Ichigo never interacts with in Bleach, and that is a true blessing because almost no one can survive the 2nd Espada’s abilities. Barragan represents old age, and when he releases his Zanpakuto, his ability to cause rapid aging intensifies.
Anything around him will begin to age and decay, which means that Spider-Man’s webs will turn to dust before they can ever reach him. The same thing will happen to Spider-Man’s body if he gets too close. Barragan can also use Respira to produce a miasma that ages and rots anything it touches.
6 SPIDER-MAN CAN BEAT: Spandam Is Arguably One Piece’s Weakest Villain (One Piece)
Quite a few One Piece characters require more training, and Spandam is definitely one of them. Spandam may have been the chief of CP9, but he is weaker than normal Marines who are mainly used as canon fodder.
He possesses no Haki or Devil Fruit power, which means that he is nothing more than an ordinary human with a sword and pistol. Spider-Man can easily immobilize him with his webs, and a single punch should be able to knock him out. Spandam also happens to be a coward, so he might just run away once he sees the hero.
5 WOULD LOSE TO: Esdeath’s Ice Powers Would Be Overwhelming (Akame Ga Kill!)
Esdeath is the primary antagonist of Akame Ga Kill!, and she would love to fight someone as strong as Spider-Man. She believes that only the strong can survive, and this mentality has made her become quite sadistic.
After drinking the Demon’s Extract Teigu, Esdeath gained the ability to create and manipulate ice. She is capable of plunging an entire continent into a mini ice age and can briefly freeze time. If she uses this trump card against Spider-Man, she’ll be able to cut him down before his Spider-Sense can alert him.
4 SPIDER-MAN CAN BEAT: Kirei Specializes In Fighting Magi, Not Superheroes (Fate/Zero)
Kirei Kotomine is a magus who participates in multiple Holy Grail Wars in the Fate series, and if he has Archer or Lancer by his side, Spider-Man won’t stand a chance. If there are no Servants around, however, there is a good chance Kirei will be defeated in under 2 minutes.
Kirei is an expert hand-to-hand fighter who specializes in fighting magi, but Spider-Man doesn’t use any sort of magic. Spider-Man may get cut up a bit during a fight, but Kirei won’t be able to do much if Spider-Man sticks him to a wall with his webs.
3 WOULD LOSE TO: Father’s Alchemy Basically Makes Him A God (FMA: Brotherhood)
Father is the main antagonist of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and as the original Homunculus, he is an immortal being who has mastered alchemy. He can transmute matter without even moving, and this means that he can deconstruct anything and create things out of thin air.
At full power, Father no longer needs to abide by universal laws and acts like a god who can create natural disasters out of nothing. Spider-Man has faced some powerful foes, but none of them have the power to create a miniature sun in the palm of their hand.
2 SPIDER-MAN CAN BEAT: Light Is Just An Ordinary Human (Death Note)
At first glance, Light Yagami looks like an ordinary high school student, but he has actually killed a lot of people. This happens because Light finds a Death Note on the ground, and this seemingly harmless notebook has the power to kill anyone if their name is written in it.
The book’s power is absolute, but it will only work if the user knows their target’s real name and face. Luckily for Spider-Man, his real name is Peter Parker, and as long as Light never figures that out, Spider-Man can take him out in less than a minute.
1 WOULD LOSE TO: Frieza Can Just Blow Up Earth (Dragon Ball)
Frieza is arguably the most iconic and well-developed villain of the Dragon Ball franchise, and Spider-Man stands absolutely no chance against him. He is a ruthless individual who conquers planets just to sell them off, and if Spider-Man punched him, it would probably feel like a spider bite.
A single punch from Frieza would probably break most of Spider-Man’s bones, and the blows would definitely connect because Frieza can move faster than the human eye can see. Frieza has destroyed several planets in the Dragon Ball universe by himself, so if Spider-Man does manage to put up a fight, Frieza can just blow up the Earth.
