Rocket League Announces Ratchet and Clank Crossover | CBR

Rocket League Season 4 will bring Ratchet & Clank cosmetics to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game.

Longtime Sony icons Ratchet and Clank will soon blast into the PlayStation versions of Rocket League, according to a recent post on the official PlayStation Blog. The Ratchet & Clank bundle will include items that will allow Rocket League fans to zoom into matches playing as the dimension-hopping duo from Insomniac Games’ long-running series. Players can obtain the Ratchet & Clank bundle for free simply by logging into Rocket League on their PS4 or PS5 beginning Aug. 18.

The Ratchet & Clank bundle is joining Rocket League to promote the game’s competitive Season 4 and is part of the first of multiple content updates. The bundle will include a Ratchet & Clank Punk Decal for the vehicle body Octane, the Negatron Collider Boost, a Clank Balloon Topper and a Ratchet Balloon Topper. The developer behind Rocket League, Psyonix, expressed excitement to have the beloved series cross over with the vehicular soccer game.

“We’re big fans of Ratchet & Clank here at Psyonix and it’s one of PlayStation’s most iconic franchises,” said Jeremy Dunham, Psyonix’s product & content strategy director. “That’s why teaming up with Insomniac to make cool content for the PlayStation community was both a thrill and a privilege to work on!”

The Ratchet & Clank franchise has proven itself an enduring success with the recent release of the critically-acclaimed Ratchet & Clank: Rift ApartSimilarly, Rocket League has remained a popular title since its original release in 2015, becoming increasingly more accessible since the game went free-to-play in 2020. The unique soccer-with-cars indie title continues to serve its dedicated player base with regular content updates and crossovers, including recent events with the James Bond and Fast & Furious franchises.

Also starting on Aug. 18, PlayStation 5 players can enjoy Rocket League at 120hz. Psyonix is adding a new Video Quality setting to the Video Settings menu, which enables players to prioritize either visual quality or video performance. Quality mode will keep Rocket League at 4k resolution at 60 FPS, whereas Performance mode will aim for 120 FPS at about 70% of the 4k resolution.

Additional Rocket League Season 4 content will include a refreshed PlayStation Plus Pack, which will feature new cosmetics on Aug. 24. The bundle will be free for PlayStation Plus subscribers. All Season 4 players will be able to purchase new Starter and Standard cosmetic packs, which will launch Aug. 17 and Aug. 24, respectively.

Developed and published by Psyonix, Rocket League is available now for free on most major platforms, including Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC… but players on those systems won’t be able to join the galaxy-saving Lombax in his rocket-powered soccer debut.
