Tiya Sircar feels honored that Star Wars fans think she should join Disney+’s Ahsoka series as the live-action version of Sabine Wren.
Following reports that Lucasfilm wants to cast the Star Wars Rebels character, Sircar, who voiced Sabine in the animated series Star Wars Rebels, tweeted out her thanks to those putting down her name out as a contestant. “You guys are honestly the best,” she wrote. “Just wanted to pop on here to tell you I’ve seen all of your sweet tweets and memes and hashtags and calls for petitions and man, y’all really know how to make a girl feel loved. Thanks, friends, LOVE YOU RIGHT BACK.”

In addition to portraying the Ghost’s Mandalorian graffiti artist and demolitions expert across all four seasons Rebels, Sircar reprised her role as Sabine for episodes of the animated web series Forces of Destiny. Over the show’s run, Rebels not only revealed that Sabine’s crusade against the Galactic Empire stemmed from her role in designing Imperial weapons, but that she’s also a member of Clan Vizla, eventually re-confronting this heritage after discovering the Darksaber in Maul’s possession. Despite winning ownership of the Darksaber in combat, she decides against becoming Mandalore’s new leader, eventually bestowing the sword to Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) in hopes of uniting the Mandalorian clans.
Elements of Rebels‘ storyline have since carried over into Season 2 of The Mandalorian, most notably Sackhoff playing a live-action Bo-Katan searching for the Darksaber in Moff Gideon’s possession. Similarly, Ashoka’s fight against Morgan Elsbeth led to her questioning the Imperial Magistrate on the whereabouts of another Rebels character: Grand Admiral Thrawn. First appearing in the Star Wars Expanded Universe novels and, after their de-canonization, later being re-introduced as a Rebels antagonist, Thrawn was last scene being dragged into hyperspace with Ezra Bridger during the show’s last episode. Most recently, Dawson seemingly confirmed that both Ezra and Thrawn would make their live-action debuts on Ahsoka, with Aladdin‘s Mena Massoud playing the former Jedi Padawan and Lars Mikkelsen reprising his role from Rebels as Thrawn.
