Developer Deck Nine announced a few changes to the release schedule regarding its upcoming Life Is Strange title, Life Is Strange: True Colors, including a release date for the game’s story DLC and a delay to the Life Is Strange Remastered Collection.
Deck Nine, the team behind the newest mainline Life Is Strange title, tweeted an update from the team behind the development of True Colors. The game’s story DLC, titled Wavelengths, will release on Sept. 30, about three weeks after the main game launches. The Life Is Strange Remastered Collection, which was originally scheduled to launch on Sept. 30, has been delayed. The team confirmed it now plans to release the Remastered Collection in early 2022.
Following its upcoming release, Life Is Strange: True Colors will add additional content in the form of Wavelengths. The story DLC will star Steph Gringrich, a True Colors character who also appeared in Deck Nine’s first foray into the Strange franchise, 2017’s Life Is Strange: Before The Storm. With the release date announcement, the team expressed excitement about the Steph-centric project, stating a trailer for the DLC is coming Aug. 12.
Conversely, Deck Nine stated it had a “difficult” time deciding to delay Life Is Strange Remastered Collection, which will include graphically-upgraded versions of both Before the Storm and the original Life Is Strange by Dontnod Entertainment, first released in 2015.
“Due to the ongoing challenges of the worldwide pandemic, we want to alleviate any additional pressure on the Life Is Strange team by giving more time between the release of Life is Strange: True Colors and the Life is Strange Remastered Collection,” stated the team.
Players can purchase Life Is Strange: True Colors alone upon its release for $59.99. The deluxe edition, which will cost $69.99, will include Wavelengths along with the full game. While Life Is Strange: Remastered Collection will eventually be made available as a standalone release, players can pre-order the ultimate edition of True Colors at $79.99 to have immediate access to the Remastered Collection upon its release.
Life Is Strange: True Colors follows protagonist Alex Chen, a musician who must use her paranormal gift of psychic empathy to navigate the town of Haven Springs, Colorado to unravel a mystery surrounding the death of her brother. The title is the first major entry in the series since Life Is Strange 2, which released in an episodic format between 2018 and 2019.
Life Is Strange Remastered Collection joins a plethora of titles recently delayed to 2022. Other recently-delayed titles have included Saber Interactive’s Evil Dead: The Game and Blizzard’s Diablo Immortal. Similarly to Deck Nine, developer Fatshark identified the pandemic as a major obstacle for the development of its own delayed game, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.
