Attack On Titan: 5 One Piece Characters Bertholdt Could Defeat (& 5 He Couldn’t)

Bertholdt was the first user of the Colossal and one of the strongest characters in the Attack On Titan universe. At an incredible sixty meters tall, he was powerful enough to obliterate virtually anything with a single kick, as shown when the walls of Shiganshina came crashing down.

Despite the enormity of his strength, Bertholdt was far from invincible. By pitting him against a diverse roster of One Piece characters, we can better comprehend how well his power translates between universes and whether or not he was a worthy user of the Colossal’s power on behalf of the Marleyan state.

10 COULD BEAT: Bertholdt Is Significantly Larger & Stronger Than Oars

Oars the Continent-Puller

When under Gecko Moria’s direct control, Oars was a formidable opponent. He was strong enough to crush the sides of castles and reasonably agile from possessing Luffy’s shadow. He could even contort and distend his limbs more than should be possible, much like the Gum-Gum devil fruit.

However, Oars’ body does not share Luffy’s resistance to physical attacks, and he is significantly smaller than Bertholdt. As a result, the Colossal would be able to pulverize him with a single attack just as he did to Eren.

9 WOULD LOSE TO: Pica Is Even Larger Than Bertholdt & Vastly More Durable

Pica is one of the few characters taller than Bertholdt under the correct circumstances. With seemingly no limit to what his devil fruit can absorb, the pirate had the potential to become so large that he could fit an entire house on a single finger.

Even if Bertholdt manages to destroy his body with the Colossal’s first detonation, Pica could simply relocate his consciousness to another rock before reforming. His stony exterior would also provide a natural defense against his titan opponent’s boiling steam.

8 COULD BEAT: Buggy The Clown’s Devil Fruit Doesn’t Protect Him From Blunt Or Heat Attacks

Buggy the Clown

Buggy the Clown’s Chop-Chop fruit is remarkably versatile since it allowed him to survive against adversaries as strong as Mihawk. However, it is almost perfectly countered by the nature of Bertholdt’s abilities.

Not only would Buggy be completely vulnerable against the heat of the Colossal’s initial explosion, but his body can also still be crushed into pulp even if he can separate it into slices. While the pirate can feasibly fly toward Bertholdt’s nape in an attempt to retaliate, he lacks the physical strength to resist the steam that emits from the Colossal’s back.

7 WOULD LOSE TO: Bertholdt Has No Means Of Touching Eneru

As a Logia user, Eneru’s unique physiology makes it both dangerous and impossible for Bertholdt to harm him. On an elemental level, the Colossal’s boiling steam would have no effect against raw, concentrated lightning.

Meanwhile, Eneru is more than capable of bringing down his towering foe. He could create a pillar of lightning vast enough to disintegrate the ground for hundreds of feet, employing the technique he used to nearly wipe out the Straw Hats in order to incinerate the Colossal.

6 COULD BEAT: Usopp Is Poorly Equipped To Slow Bertholdt Down

Usopp Being A Coward

While Usopp’s precision as a sniper suggests that he may find some success in hitting Bertholdt’s eyes or nape, he still lacks the firepower necessary to defeat him. Most of his green star ammunition would be worthless against the Colossal since he could incinerate it before impact.

Despite Usopp’s decent endurance proven in his battle against Chew, his speed leaves much to be desired. As a result, he wouldn’t even be able to protect himself from being caught in Bertholdt’s initial transformative explosion and would be reduced to ash as a consequence.

5 WOULD LOSE TO: Zoro Has Toppled Giants & Balances Speed With Power

Zoro Returns From His Training

Zoro would be an excellent match for Bertholdt due to his natural speed, resilience, and strength. He was powerful enough to slice through Pica time and again despite the villain’s mountain-sized stone body and performed with similar aptitude against Oars at Thriller Bark.

Fast enough to leave after images of himself and with enough skill to contend with two CP9 agents simultaneously (who themselves could move like a blur), Zoro would rip Bertholdt in half before he had enough time to transform.

4 COULD BEAT: Broggy’s Weapons Cannot Compensate For His Diminutive Stature

Broggy was a giant with a bounty of a hundred million berries. As a warrior of Elbaf, he fought against his rival for over an entire century and therefore has a significant advantage of experience against Bertholdt.

However, the giant is only twenty-one meters tall, which is barely a third the size of the Colossal. Consequently, his crude and broken weaponry wouldn’t save him when Bertholdt brings his foot into his chest and breaks every bone in his body with a single stroke.

3 WOULD LOSE TO: Akainui Could Disintegrate Entire Armadas With His Lava

Akainu could launch devastating lava attacks from a distance, as seen during the battle at Marineford. He possessed so much offensive force that he caused significant injuries to Whitebeard, who was often regarded to be the world’s strongest pirate, and killed Ace with a single punch.

Even if Bertholdt somehow managed to survive his initial volcanic onslaught, he has no way to retaliate. Since Akainu has mastered a Logia fruit, attempting to defeat him with physical attacks is extremely dangerous and virtually impossible.

2 COULD BEAT: Machvise’s Usual Strategy Of Plummeting Wouldn’t Work Against Bertholdt’s Steam

Machvise’s devil fruit strategy was extremely simple. He would take to the sky before increasing his weight and using his body like a blunt instrument against anyone unfortunate enough to find themselves beneath him.

However, not only was this tactic ineffective against Hajrudin, a giant barely a third the size of Bertholdt, but the Colossal Titan can also emit boiling steam from its body. Consequently, Machvise would be incinerated immediately after his first collision and unable to attempt another one. Moreover, Bertholdt could simply avoid his clumsy attacks altogether by staying in human form and cutting him down with ODM weaponry.

1 WOULD LOSE TO: Kuma Can Teleport Around The Battlefield & Topple Bertholdt With A Jarring Compressed Attack

While Bertholdt still might maintain an advantage of strength and durability over Kuma, the Warlord’s other assets would guarantee his victory. Not only was Kuma fast enough to teleport across the battlefield in the blink of an eye, making it impossible for Bertholdt to hit him, but he also managed to resist the combined attacks of Sanji and Zoro.

By concentrating pressure into his palm, Kuma has demonstrated an ability to topple giants in a single hit, as proven through his victory over Oars Jr. It follows that since the Colossal can’t touch or anticipate him, Bertholdt would be defeated with similar ease.
