During tonight’s episode WWE Monday Night Raw, Hall of Fame wrestler Goldberg made a shocking return to the company in order to confront reigning WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.
After successfully defeating the returning Keith Lee in an open challenge, Lashley was confronted by Goldberg, presumably setting up a match between the two in the future. In recent days, rumors have circulated that WWE was planning to bring Goldberg back into the fold and insert him into a championship feud with Lashley to be blown off at the SummerSlam PPV next month.
Known for his 100-plus match unbeaten streak, Bill Goldberg was one of the biggest home-grown stars of the now-defunct WCW, capturing the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship and the WCW World Tag Team Championship during his time in the Turner-owned promotion.
After WCW closed its doors and was absorbed by the WWF in 2001, Goldberg debuted for the newly-christened WWE in 2003, signing a one-year deal with the company. During his initial run in WWE, Goldberg captured the World Heavyweight Championship. He then departed the company in 2004 following a rather infamous match against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX.
After spending over a decade away from the ring, Goldberg returned to WWE in 2016, subsequently being inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame in 2018. During his modern appearances for the company, Goldberg has captured the WWE Universal Championship on two occasions.
