Since the release of Doctor Strange, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been playing with time in a big way. And while Avengers: Endgame featured time travel as a key plot point, Disney+’s Loki has approached the subject in a whole new way by introducing the idea of the “Sacred Timeline.” In an attempt to preserve the Sacred Timeline, the Time-Variance Authority prunes various timelines that don’t align with the organization’s mysterious goals. However, Sylvie disrupted the MCU’s timeline in a big way using a bunch of reset charges, resulting in a number of broken timelines. In this video, we’re going to explain what you need to know about those broken timelines and how they link to the MCU more generally.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, it’s not totally clear just what shape the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will take. While there’s a good indication the characters that Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox will soon arrive, there’s not much solid information on just when or how that might happen. Right now, there are a lot of potential directions the MCU could go in the future, though exactly which one it will take remains to be seen. That being said, Loki will seemingly link in some way to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, even if how isn’t known at this time.
