WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Loki Episode 5, “Journey Into Mystery,” now streaming on Disney+.
In the most recent episode of Loki, fans were treated to a quick cameo of Frog Thor. However, writer Eric Marin revealed the character was supposed to debut much sooner.
On Twitter, Martin gave the details surrounding Frog Thor’s deleted scene from Episode 1, “Glorious Purpose,” which involved the character fighting Loki.
Comic fans will notice the Frog of Thunder in that jar. We actually shot a scene for the Time Theater in Ep 1 of Loki getting pummeled by Frog Thor, but had to cut it to keep things moving. It’s too bad, because Tom was funny as hell. #LokiMidnightTheater

“Comic fans will notice the Frog of Thunder in that jar,” Martin wrote. “We actually shot a scene for the Time Theater in Ep 1 of Loki getting pummeled by Frog Thor, but had to cut it to keep things moving. It’s too bad, because Tom was funny as hell.”
In “Journey Into Mystery,” which was named after the comic book that introduced Thor in 1962, Frog Thor’s cameo sees the character trapped in a jar underground. This happened just as the God of Mischief and his alternate selves, who he met after being sent to the Void in the previous episode, descend into the latters’ hideout.
While Loki has just one more episode remaining in Season 1, it was reportedly already renewed for a second season, though details remain scarce.
Created by Michael Waldron and directed by Kate Herron, Loki stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, Eugene Cordero as Casey, Sasha Lane as Hunter C-20 and Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, with Richard E. Grant and Jack Veal. New episodes premiere Wednesdays on Disney+.
