Marvel’s first feature film in two years, Black Widow, is leading Fandango’s ticket sales ahead of its Friday release.
Fandango, an online movie ticket vendor, tweeted “[Black Widow] is off to the best start of 2021 in Fandango pre-sales.” A graphic was also included, showing the text “‘BLACK WIDOW’ ADVANCE TICKET SALES ARE FANDANGO’S MOST OF 2021 (SO FAR).”
Black Widow, which centers on Scarlett Johansson’s deadly assassin Natasha Romanoff, is one of the many blockbuster films that faced numerous delays due to the coronavirus pandemic and its effects on the theater industry. Its release on Friday, July 9, marks the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be released since 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home.
CBR’s own review of Black Widow praises the latest MCU film, and other reviews have been largely positive as well, with Rotten Tomatoes giving the movie a Fresh rating.
Directed by Cate Shortland, Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, O-T Fagbenle as Mason and Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff. The film arrives in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access July 9.
