Douglas Mackinnon, director of Amazon Prime and BBC Studios‘ Good Omens, posted on Twitter that the production is looking for ‘trainees’ for the show’s upcoming Season 2.
The tweet states that Good Omens Season 2 is filming in Scotland and that the studio is seeking out people who are “keen to be a part of the film and television industry.” It says that the traineeship is paid, will introduce trainees to the world of film and TV and will also teach, train and develop skills. The traineeship does not require experience, but the post states that it’s exclusively available to Scotland residents — so fans of the show from other countries are unfortunately ineligible.
The post states that filming for Good Omens Season 2 commences Oct. 18, but that any hired trainees will receive prep time prior to starting. It says that the shooting period will be for 18 weeks (ending on March 11) and that there will be a three-week hiatus over Christmas. With Good Omens‘ renewal only recently announced, the shooting period is a good indication of how long before fans can expect Season 2 — or at the very least, an announcement with more information. The post also mentions that interested applicants must be able to drive, due to public transport and car-sharing limitations from coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions.
The positions available for applicants, as well as start dates, are as follows: Production Trainee (starts July 26), Props Store Trainee (July 26), Costume Trainee (October 4), Locations Trainee (October 4), Camera Trainee (October 4), AD Trainee (October 11), Makeup Trainee (October 11), Grip Trainee (October 11), Continuity Trainee (October 11) and Video Assist Trainee (October 13). Applications are required by Friday, July 9 for the Prop Store Trainee position and Friday, July 30 for all others, so for those who fit the qualifications, the positions are available to be applied to now.
Good Omens is based on the Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett novel of the same name, and co-stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant as the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley, respectively. The show was met with critical acclaim upon Season 1’s debut, but also a fair share of controversy when religious activists petitioned that Netflix (which was uninvolved with the series) remove the series, to which Amazon Prime jokingly replied, “We’ll cancel Stranger Things if you cancel Good Omens.” The series originally had no plans for a sequel, but was renewed to “explore storylines that go beyond the original source material to illuminate the uncanny friendship between [Aziraphale] and [Crowley].”
Good Omens stars Michael Sheen, David Tennant, Adria Arjona, Michael McKean, Miranda Richardson, Sam Taylor Buck, Jack Whitehall and Jon Hamm. Season 2 has yet to receive a premiere date.
