10 Marvel Villains Who’d Escape Arkham Asylum The Quickest | CBR

When Batman is done beating up one of the many members of his rogues gallery, they often end up back in Arkham Asylum. And in a select few cases, it’s usually the 50th or 60th time he’s dropped them off there. For some villains, their visits are temporary at best while others become almost permanent residents.

If Batman had to start dealing with Marvel villains, there are some who would never escape Arkham. At the same time, there are some who would basically walk out the front door minutes after the Caped Crusader tucked them in, read them a story, and turned their nightlights on.

10 Hobgoblin Knows A Thing Or Two About Breakouts

Hobgoblin feature

First and foremost, there have been a lot of people to wear the Hobgoblin costume over the years. And some of them have been much better at the job of being Hobgoblin than others, which means tormenting Spider-Man for money and whipping pumpkin-shaped grenades around New York.

Hobgoblin is more than equipped to breakout of any facility, with or without his gear. There would be a direct correlation between how long he stayed in Arkham and how much it benefitted him to do so.

9 If Doctor Octopus Can Contact His Arms, He’s Gone

Doctor Octopus

Spider-Man has made a lot of enemies over the years, a major one being Doctor Octopus. A scientist with more than a few issues, Otto Octavius developed mechanical arms to help him with his experiments. An accident permanently bonded them to him.

Batman could defeat Doctor Octopus with a well-placed Batarang to the face. Once in Arkham. keeping him there would 100% depend on not letting him connect with his arms. However, Otto’s telepathic link to them means he can contact them for support from pretty much anywhere.

8 Red Skull Doesn’t Have Time To Sit Around

The Red Skull Leads His Villains

Trying to destroy the world and bring about the rise of the next Reich tends to keep Red Skull extremely busy. The guy literally does not have time to relax in a cell at Arkham Asylum and watch TV, or whatever they let the inmates do there.

Skull often has an army at his disposal who are incredibly unlikely to leave him behind. Within minutes of Red Skull being deposited in Arkham, Crossbones would lead his crew in a raid of the building where they would rescue Red Skull and any other criminal who might be useful.

7 Baron Zemo Would Bide His Time

Captain America has spent a sizable portion of his life dealing with the Zemo clan. First, he fought the elder Baron during World War II. Then when Cap came out of the ice, Baron Zemo II was there, waiting to continue the fight.

Junior is definitely the more savvy and imaginative of the two. He could manipulate the staff and the other prisoners to find his way out of Arkham Asylum, then continue to use them on the outside. He’s a plan within a plan within a plan kind of guy.

6 Taskmaster Isn’t Hanging Around For Long

Batman is generally regarded as one of the top hand-to-hand fighters in DC. That being said, defeating Taskmaster would prove to be a challenge even for him. The villain has the ability to replicate anyone’s fighting style after just watching them for a moment. He could throw everything at Batman.

Assuming the Dark Knight was able to take Taskmaster down, he would definitely drop him in Arkham. It wouldn’t take long for Taskmaster to figure a way out, though he would also end up back there. Taskie would inevitably go looking for a rematch against Batman.

5 Green Goblin Would Be Out The Door

No one has put more time and effort into making Spider-Man’s life terrible than Norman Osborn. He’s made this a priority, both in his civilian identity and as the Green Goblin. Honestly, Norman has ruined his own life on multiple occasions thanks to this obsession.

It would be a tough fight, but Batman could take the Green Goblin down. But few prisons have been able to hold the Goblin in the past, and Arkham won’t be the one to keep him behind bars. Green Goblin would find his way out relatively quickly.

4 Mystique Is A Savvy Shapeshifter

Few Mutants in the Marvel Universe are as dangerous as Mystique. She’s a highly trained martial artist and sharpshooter, not to mention having a brilliant and devious tactical mind. Plus, she’s a shapeshifter with the ability to change her appearance to look like virtually anyone.

Mystique presents an interesting challenge for Batman. If he was able to take her down, she would definitely end up in Arkham Asylum. She would then use her shapeshifting abilities and other assorted skills to get out of the building almost immediately.

3 Rhino Could Just Run Through The Walls

Putting Rhino in Arkham Asylum is just a bad idea. Years of gamma radiation treatments have dramatically increased his size, strength, and durability. His special suit makes him even more invulnerable and dangerous as a whole.

The simple reality is that someone with Rhino’s level of strength has never been deposited in Arkham before. He would leave a path of destruction behind him as he escaped. That’s assuming he didn’t just utterly annihilate the building for the hell of it.

2 Sabretooth Might Kill Everyone On The Way Out

Sabretooth X-Men

Wolverine and Sabretooth have a violent past that goes back well over a century. Sabretooth is easily Wolverine’s greatest enemy, savagely attacking him every year on his birthday just because he thinks it’s funny. And that’s the nicest tradition these two mutants have.

Sabretooth has rarely had an issue leaving imprisonment behind when captured. The scary part about putting him in Arkham is that he might just kill some of the staff as a message to Batman about not putting him in jail in the first place.

1 It Would Be Safer To Take Carnage Somewhere Else

Unlike Sabretooth, Carnage would definitely kill all the staff, guards, and a large portion of the villains in Arkham. It wouldn’t be to make a point, either. It would be just because he enjoys watching people scream, bleed, and die. To be blunt, the likelihood of Batman defeating Carnage is exceedingly low.

This is the kind of situation that would require the support of the entire Justice League, and even that’s no guarantee. If they do beat him, they’ll need a facility more suited for Carnage than Arkham. A Promethium cell on the bottom of the ocean might be the right call.
