Fire Emblem Three Houses: 10 Best Support Conversations In The Golden Deer

Fire Emblem: Three Houses has an impressive roster of students in each of the four houses. While each student has a role to play in the overarching story, their personalities and backstories are more thoroughly fleshed out during their interactions with other characters.

In order to get a good understanding of the characters, the player needs to unlock as many of their support conversations as possible, even with students from other houses. The support conversations in the Golden Deer are funny and do a fantastic job of showing how each character grows as they interact with the other students.

10 Claude & Ignatz: They Have A Humorous Discussion About What The Goddess Could Look Like

Claude reminds Ignatz that old people were beautiful too

Ignatz asks Claude what he thinks the goddess would look like, and Claude responds by saying that the goddess most likely looks like everyone else. To Ignatz’s disbelief, Claude points out that the goddess could look like a nearby old lady. When they talk about this again, Ignatz admits that he hopes that if he prays enough, the goddess will appear before him. Claude, in a rather slick move, convinces Ignatz that he should have Claude with him if he ever meets the goddess, to help him talk to such an “incomparable beauty.”

9 Claude & Leonie: They Share A Mutual Respect For Each Other & Can Be Honest About Their Beliefs

Claude tells leonie his beliefs

This support conversation opens with Claude attempting and failing at washing dishes. He somehow manages to drench himself in water and breaks every dish he touches. He’s eventually driven out of the kitchen. Leonie, despite Claude’s soaked appearance, states that she respects him for trying since most nobles wouldn’t even bother.

Later, when discussing the goddess’ role in the world, Claude feels comfortable enough to tell her that he would rather thank the land for providing them with plentiful harvests rather than the goddess. Although Leonie believes in the goddess, she appreciates Claude’s point of view unlike many other people in Garreg Mach who would think he was just being disrespectful.

8 Lorenz & Byleth: Lorenz Slowly Gains Respect For Commoners & Their Ability To Be Influential

Lorenz laughs off the accusations

Byleth is usually the one calling for Lorenz, but unfortunately, it’s to scold him for harassing the female students. Lorenz is woefully ignorant of his wrongdoings, stating that someone must be starting malicious rumors about him and that he only invites women to have some tea. He believed it was his responsibility as a noble to find someone of similar lineage who could benefit his house. But after fighting alongside Byleth, he realizes that commoners can be influential too. If the player chooses to pursue a romance with him, Lorenz asks Byleth to marry him, to which she responds with, “It’s about time.”

7 Raphael & Ignatz: Raphael Never Holds A Grudge Against Ignatz For The Death Of His Parents

Raphael states that he doesn't hold a grudge against Ignatz

Ignatz spends most of his time avoiding Raphael out of guilt. Raphael’s parents chose to go on a business trip that Ignatz’s parents weren’t able to do. They unfortunately died during that trip, leaving Raphael and his sister alone.

Ignatz’s family wasn’t able to do much to help them, and Ignatz was convinced that Raphael hated him for it. Raphael didn’t actually care and had to tell Ignatz multiple times that all he wanted was his friend back. After a while, they’re able to properly mend their friendship.

6 Raphael & Marianne: Raphael Tries To Connect With Marianne By Talking To Birds

Marianne catches Raphael talking to a bird

Raphael notices Marianne talking to birds, and is thoroughly impressed by this ability. He tries talking to birds as well, which surprises and amuses her. Raphael speaks to a bird the same way he speaks to people, telling it to eat a lot of meat to grow big and strong. The bird, of course, does not understand him. Noticing that one bird was feeling unwell, he quickly calls Marianne to determine what’s wrong. When she tells him that it’s hungry, he offers the bird a bunch of bugs, which disgusts her. However, the thoughtfulness of his actions makes her more comfortable around him.

5 Marianne & Lorenz: Lorenz Appreciates Marianne’s Inner Beauty

Lorenz praises Marianne

Lorenz is quick to praise Marianne for her refinement and beauty when he first speaks to her, something that makes her completely flustered. All of their conversations end with her red-faced. At first, it seems like he spends too much time comparing her to her adoptive father, but his persistence in complimenting her shows that he is actually being genuine. It is one of the sweetest support conversations in the game.

4 Hilda & Lorenz: Hilda Feels Guilty About Suckering Lorenz Into Doing Work For Her

Hilda expresses her guilt

Hilda, notorious for being one of the laziest students in the monastery, often suckers people into doing work for her. She sees this as an even exchange, showering them with compliments in exchange. This tactic works too well on Lorenz, who is quick to agree to protect her in battle. Hilda eventually feels guilty when he thanks her for helping him better himself, but at the very least, she kept her promise of praising him in a letter to her brother.

3 Hilda & Raphael: Hilda Helps Raphael Make A Cute Present For His Sister

Hilda is touched by Raphael's display of gratitude

Hilda approaches Raphael, who is making a strange necklace of tree bark, boar tusks, and wolf claws. She’s horrified when she realizes it’s a gift for his sister, and suggests better materials to make a necklace that would actually be cute. Even though Fodlan’s throat is so far away, he makes the long journey in a short amount of time to gather a specific flower. Hilda goes out of her way to help him make the necklace when he gets back, and when he sees the finished result, he starts sobbing. Raphael knows nothing about making cute things, and his gratitude and love for his sister make Hilda appreciate her brother even more.

2 Marianne & Hilda: Hilda Is Forced Into Work Because Marianne Isn’t Good At Cleaning

Hilda tries to mimic Marianne's behavior

Hilda attempts to shove all of the cleaning work onto Marianne, who is too shy and reserved to argue. However, Marianne just makes a bigger mess, which Hilda is forced to clean up. Her attempts to make life easier for herself only give her more work to do, much to her frustration. In order to make it up to her, Marianne buys her pastries, and the two admit to feeling envious of each other’s skills. It’s a much-needed boost to their confidence, and it makes both of them motivated, especially Hilda, who eventually opens multiple artisan schools with Marianne’s support.

1 Leonie & Hilda: Hilda Tries To Convince Leonie To Wear Something Cute

Hilda and Leonie agree to make something for each other

Leonie is a very practical character. Since she was raised with very little, she learned to value the small things and to never waste anything. Hilda discovers Leonie’s wooden good luck charm from Jeralt, which Leonie keeps with her at all times. She doesn’t really understand Leonie’s attachment to it and tries to give Leonie some cuter accessories, though Leonie declines. Hilda eventually realizes that Leonie would rather have an item with more meaning behind it, so the girls meet halfway and agree to make accessories for each other.
