Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The 5 Rarest Events | CBR

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is host to a considerable assortment of world events and side-quests called Mysteries. Some Mysteries are met and cleared by players easily; others remain elusive even to those with an eye for detail. Here are some of the rarest events in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla worth pursuing.

The events themselves can vary in scope and content, but some offer more than just a measly reward gained from a simple fetch quest. Some of the events that are tougher to find can prove to offer great rewards, but many revel in the absurdity of the setting and offer players a good laugh.

The “Real” World

Assassins Creed Valhalla Outside Animus

One of the easiest to miss events in the game occurs not in England or Norway but in the real world outside the Animus. Unlike in previous Assassin’s Creed games, Assassins Creed Valhalla never instructs the player to exit the Animus. There would be opportunities between significant events or narrative arcs in previous entries to get better acquainted with what’s going on in the modern world in which Assassin’s Creed games are actually set.

Writers and developers even took it upon themselves to remind players they still had this option in Assassins Creed Valhalla, and it’s good that they did. Exiting the Animus will introduce players to a much-needed wealth of information regarding how the world functions outside the time-hopping simulation machine. They’ll gain new insights on the previous franchise protagonist, Desmond Miles, and receive an adequate check-in on how the game’s universe fared through 2020.

Major Headache

Assassins Creed Valhalla Axe Head

One of the most memorable events in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla involves a man complaining about a simple headache. The only problem is, he’s got an axe lodged in his head. This event can be encountered in Wycham in Grantebridgescire. After stumbling upon the unfortunate man, Eivor can choose whether to relay the reality of his situation or offer sweet lies.

Regardless of the option players choose, they’ll learn a little bit about how the man befell this inconvenience and have the chance to put him to rest. It’s an odd bit of surreal comedy in the title, but a pit-stop worth making.

Under The Sea

Assassins Creed Valhalla Gyldan Sparrow

Players who fondly remember the underwater locales from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey‘s Fate of Atlantis DLC won’t want to miss the sunken ship-themed event in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Players will have the chance to explore the wreck of The Gyldan Sparrow, referenced in a few different codex entries, and are tasked with solving an absurd conundrum. Eivor can begin this event by finding a Norse woman in Lunden to the south of the Temple of Mithras.

The woman will request the player to recover the treasure from the sunken Glydan Sparrow. After locating the wreck and only a disappointing amount of crafting materials and a Waterlogged Note, the woman has a new request for Eivor. We won’t spoil where the event leads from here, but it’s worth seeing this event through.

Animus Anomalies

Assassins Creed Valhalla Animus Anomalies

There are ten Animus Anomalies in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla; each has players jumping, climbing, and clambering through obstacles and puzzles. The Animus Anomalies each yield a secret reward, a recording offering insight to the greater Isu narrative at large, but players won’t be able to discern much. In true Assassin’s Creed fashion, players will have to complete every Anomaly for the recording to make sense.

During the Animus Anomaly segments, players will control Layla, the protagonist from whom Eivor’s memories are drawn. Animus Anomaly locations are scattered across the game map, and some can be pretty well tucked away. There is a complete guide to locating and completing each Anomaly here.

Cat-pocolypse

Assassins Creed Valhalla Many Cats

What do you do when you spot a village beset by rats? Call in the cats. In Grantebridgescire, just a hair northeast of Grantebridge, Eivor will stumble upon a man having a serious dilemma with rats. The man will ask Eivor for any help they can lend in eliminating this rodent problem. Luckily just up the road on the right, near a circular building, there’s a woman who can help.

The woman has a lot of cats. So many, in fact, one might even consider them a feline army. Eivor can convince this woman to share her babies with the rest of the community and, in turn, squash the rat infestation. If players have ever wanted to see cat-on-rat warfare, Viking style, Assassins Creed Valhalla has you covered.
