Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex’s Kenji Kamiyama is set to direct an original anime film set in the world of The Lord of the Rings!
Titled The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, the film will be a prequel exploring the blood-soaked backstory of Helm Hammerhand, ninth King of Rohan and the untold story of the fortress Helm’s Deep.
Joseph Chou ( Blade Runner: Black Lotus ) will produce the film with a script by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews ( The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance ). Sola Entertainment will handle animation with New Line producing and Warner Bros. distributing. Philippa Boyens, a co-writer for Peter Jackson’s film trilogy and The Hobbit, is also on board as a consultant.
