JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is an anime series that was adapted from the shonen manga by Hirohiko Araki. The JoJo of today is decidedly different in appearance than when it originally started. Namely, the male figures are much slimmer and more polished in build than their predecessors.
The shift in character design starts with Stardust Crusaders, and by Diamond is Unbreakable, Araki finally begins to settle into a definitive style. Long gone are the bulky characters with rippling muscles. Although JoJo looks different today, fans can appreciate the classic characters of previous years, with their gigantic frames and muscle mass.

9 Joseph Joestar Uses His Power For Trickery & Ingenuity
Arguably the funniest of the Joestars, Joseph is quite the playful character. His goofiness is juxtaposed with true moments of ingenuity, most often displayed in the desperate moments of battle.
Although his true genius lies in his ability to come up with clever schemes on the fly, Joseph also displays great fighting skills. He has a very powerful build, accentuated by his minimal clothing. Even in his later years, Joseph still maintains his muscular build.
8 Jonathan Joestar’a Body Becomes The Target Of Dio
The last true gentleman of the Joestars, Jonathan’s character evolves throughout Battle Tendency. First introduced as a scrawny, defenseless young man, Jonathan grows into a giant by the time he reaches his late teens.

7 Jotaro’s Stand Star Platinum Is A Callback To Characters Of The Past
Stardust Crusaders is the final part of the series before Araki’s shift in character build. While Jotaro and the other characters of Stardust Crusaders appear very large and muscular in stature, Star Platinum outmasses them all.
Although Star Platinum is an extension of Jotaro, he appears much larger in build than Jotaro. As an emblem of the bygone era of JoJo, Star Platinum displays the all too familiar gigantic stature and muscly form of prior characters.

Even though he is one of the younger of the Pillar Men, Wamuu is still an immense being with incredible strength. Wamuu is often seen with veins bulging from his muscles. Despite his muscular build, Wamuu is eventually defeated by Joseph.
3 Esidisi’s Strength Is Outmatched By His Intelligence & Will To Survive
Esidisi is second in the hierarchy of the Pillar Men. Standing at an incredible 6’9″ in height, Esidisi is only surpassed by Kars. Like the other Pillar Men, Esidisi has a very muscular build, emphasized by his lack of clothing.
Stating “all warfare is based on deception,” Esidisi is the only one who is able to see through Joseph’s trickery. In the hierarchy of the Pillar Men, Kars is number one. He is the oldest of the surviving Pillar Men, and although his specific height is never mentioned, Kars is presumably the largest and strongest of the Pillar Men.

His giant form and brutality send Jonathan and the others fleeing for their lives in Phantom Blood.
