One Piece: Every Devil Fruit Class, Explained | CBR

Devil Fruits are a source of great power in the world of One Piece. Introduced in the very beginning of the story, Devil Fruits are known to grant their eaters special powers that have a wide range, depending on the type that they ate. Regardless of type or class, all Devil Fruits increase a person’s power one way or another.

As the story progresses, more Devil Fruit classes are slowly being revealed and the ones already introduced are being expanded upon. So far, the story has seen a total of eight types of Devil Fruits being introduced.

8 Zoans Are Most Suited For Combat Situations

Zoan Devil Fruits were introduced in the story with Dalton, one of the characters who appeared in the Drum Island arc of One Piece. These fruits are quite special, allowing the user to transform into an animal and a human-animal hybrid.

Among the users of Zoan Devil Fruits, those who’ve eaten a carnivorous type are even stronger and they grow more ferocious every time they’re filled with bloodlust.

7 Ancient Zoans Offer The Power Of Ancient Creatures

Among the Zoan Devil Fruits exist special ones that offer the power of ancient creatures, most of which have become extinct with time. These fruits are quite powerful, known to have much higher strength, durability, and recovery rate when compared to regular Zoans.

The Ancient Zoans mostly consist of dinosaur fruits, as seen with the members of the Tobi Roppo, but other creatures, such as the Rosamygale Grauvogeli and the Smilodon, also exist. Needless to say, the Ancient Zoan is a rare class that offers tremendous power.

6 Mythical Zoans Are The Rarest Type Of Devil Fruits In The World

Introduced during the Paramount War through Marco, the First Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, the Mythical Zoan type is an incredibly rare class of Devil Fruits that allow the user to transform into a mythical creature and its hybrid at will.

So far, only five known Mythical Zoan users exist in the world of One Piece: Marco, Sengoku, Catarina Devon, Kurozumi Orochi, and the Yonko, Kaido. As expected, this class of Devil Fruit is astonishingly powerful and are a match for even the Logia types.

5 The SMILEs Were Created By Caesar Clown

Recognized as an artificial type of Devil Fruit, the SMILEs were created by Caesar using a chemical known as SAD. These Devil Fruits offer power similar to the Zoan types, however, they’re different in more ways than one.

Unlike the Zoan types, the SMILE fruits only allow a portion of a person’s body to gain an animalistic trait, and this appears to be irreversible in some cases. What’s more, eating a SMILE doesn’t guarantee the transfer of the power of the fruit. The chances for success are only 10% and those who eat a failed fruit lose their ability to swim without gaining any power, as well being forced to smile forever.

4 The Artificial Zoan Type Devil Fruit Was Created By Vegapunk

The Artificial Zoans are quite unique and while one might put them in the same class as the SMILEs, they’re fundamentally different. Unlike the SMILEs, the Artificial Zoan type Devil Fruit actually works just like a real Zoan Devil Fruit would.

Momonosuke’s Devil Fruit, created by Vegapunk by experimenting on Kaido, is an example of this Devil Fruit and its powers are exactly like those of Kaido’s Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu. It is unknown if Vegapunk created more such Devil Fruits, but knowing his genius, one wouldn’t put it past him.

3 Logia Types Are Considered To Be A Powerful Class Of Devil Fruits

Widely believed to be the strongest class of Devil Fruits, the rare Logia types offer the ability to turn into an element or a force of nature. Introduced in the story with Smoker, the user of the Moku Moku no Mi, the Logia types have only become more dangerous with time.

The users of this class of Devil Fruit can also produce said element at all times and control it effortlessly. So far, a total of eleven Logia-type Devil Fruits have been introduced in the story.

2 Paramecia Types Are The Most Common Devil Fruits

Paramecia Devil Fruits are the most common in the One Piece universe, and also the most diverse. The powers offered by these Devil Fruits range from allowing the user to turn their body into a substance, such as Jozu’s diamond power, to being able to produce a substance from their bodies, such as Galdino’s Doru Doru power. Other miscellaneous abilities can also exist in this class, such as Toki’s time-traveling power.

Paramecia types have an incredible range and while some aren’t all that useful, others, like the Gura Gura no Mi, have the potential to destroy the world.

1 Special Paramecia Gives The Power Of A Logia To The User

Introduced in the Whole Cake Island arc of One Piece, the Special Paramecia class only has one Devil Fruit belonging to it so far, and that’s Charlotte Katakuri’s Mochi Mochi no Mi. Despite being a Paramecia, this Devil Fruit offers the ability of a Logia to Katakuri, which is what makes it so special.

With it, Katakuri could create mochi, control it according to his will, and even become mochi itself. Whether other Devil Fruits can fit this class remains to be seen.
