EXCLUSIVE: That Texas Blood Kicks off a New Story Arc in Issue #7 Preview

This June, writer Chris Condon and artist Jacob Phillips’ Image Comics title That Texas Blood returns for a brand-new story arc — and CBR has an exclusive first-look at the interior art from issue #7.

That Texas Blood #7 is slated to go on sale Wednesday, June 30. Following the “traumatic and bloody” conclusion of the “A Brother’s Conscience” arc in December 2020’s That Texas Blood #6, issue #7 kicks off the “Eversaul, 1981” arc. This new story follows Sheriff Joe Bob Coates as he reminisces about “one of his first cases: a haunting and bizarre evening that left a boy dead, a girl missing, a cult on the loose, and introduced a mysterious man called Harlan Eversaul.”

“When we set out to tell the story of Ambrose County and its residents in That Texas Blood, I knew that we would be delving into the past to see what made the place the way it is,” said Condon. “I’m thrilled that we’re able to tell a story beginning in issue seven that does just that, sending us back to a dark night on Dale Moore’s ranch in 1981. This is a tale that I’ve had in mind since the series’ inception and it’s amazing to see it come to vibrant life in Jacob’s fantastic artwork. I can’t wait for you all to see it. It’s dark, yes, but it’s got heart. And well, it’s That Texas Blood.”

That Texas Blood #7 features a main cover by series artist Phillips, as well as a variant cover by Marc Aspinall. Image has provided CBR with three preview pages from the issue, in which Joe Bob is apparently confronted by a ghost from his past.
