Anime dub fans and many casual sub fans may not be aware of this, but Natsuki Hanae is actually a fairly popular voice actor in the Japanese voice acting community, with roles like Demon Slayer‘s Tanjiro Kamado being one of his most popular.
Being an anime fan himself, Natsuki Hanae decided to become a seiyu after the voice acting in Ouran High School Host Club left him impressed. That one decision of his turned out to be the best decision he ever made. Not only did he do well in voice acting, but he also won the Best Rookie award at the 9th Seiyu Awards, which cemented his career as one of Japan’s best male seiyu.
11 Tanjiro Kamado, The Protagonist Of Demon Slayer
Tanjiro has everything going for him like a typical shonen protagonist, except for one massive difference – he does not hesitate to kill the demons who threaten the existence of his fellow humans. Kind and considerate, Tanjiro often puts the needs of people before his own needs, which often leads to him being saved by his demon sister Nezuko.
While Tanjiro starts off as a severely emphatic and overly trusting character at the beginning of the series, he undergoes a massive transformation and becomes a lot colder and more calculating in the manga.
10 Atsuhiro Maeda, The Main Character Of Tari Tari
This young boy is a transfer student who goes to Japan after living for 12 years in Austria. He is a sweet and reliable friend who often buries his nose in various books to help him understand things that are beyond his grasp.
This was actually Natsuki’s first role as a lead character, and it put him on the map for becoming a recognized seiyu among fans and industry insiders alike.
9 Gakuto Sogetsu, The Student Council President In Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS
Strict, serious, and disciplined, this student council president is the type of person who never skips class and is never late to school, even on days when he’s sick. He becomes easily annoyed when people break rules and he often takes out his frustration on Yuga Odo.
Even so, Gakuto has shown remarkable leniency when his friends break rules, going so far as to ask for forgiveness from Goha on behalf of his friends.
8 Inaho Kaizuka, The Main Lead Of Aldnoah.Zero
Inaho struggles with expressing his emotions, which is why he is often mistaken as being someone who is emotionless. The lack of a social life forced him to focus more on tactical advantages and battle maneuvers which resulted in him quickly becoming a better and more experienced pilot than the rest of his peers.
He is often criticized for being a lone wolf who never shares his battle plans with his friends but despite that, he does not treat his friends and peers any differently.
7 Taichi “Tai” Kamiya, The Protagonist Of The Digimon Series
Tai is introduced as a young, energetic, talkative, and impulsive young brat who acts first and thinks later. Whenever he realizes his mistakes, however, he quickly apologizes for his actions and does his best to undo whatever he did.
He is a considerate and loyal friend who eventually matures as a more cautious young man in Digimon Adventure tri, re-thinking his strategies regarding collateral damage during Digimon battles.
6 Yuuki Kagurazaka, The Primary Antagonist Of That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime
After the killer of his parents was found not guilty, Yuuki decided to change society’s flawed systems and rules one step at a time by becoming a politician.
While he’s shown to be good-natured, kind, and well-liked on the surface, in reality, he’s someone who has strong ideals and he often constantly manipulates innocent people in order to achieve his goals.
5 Yuuta Ashuu, One Of The Main Characters From B-Project: Kodou*Ambitious
Like most of Natsuki’s characters, Yuuto is a bubbly and energetic young man who enjoys being an idol. He becomes easily attached to people and loves going out of his way to make his loved ones happy.
People adore him for his friendly and warm personality, which is often accompanied by a childlike curiosity for everything new that he comes across. He’s poor with direction and his clumsiness is often a source of embarrassment to him.
4 Reita Toritsuka, The First Person To Know Saiki’s Secret From The Disastrous Life Of Saiki K.
Like Saiki, Reita possesses supernatural powers, which is how he bonded (one-sidedly) with Saiki. He is outgoing but also constantly harasses girls to gain their attention, which never works out in his favor.
Even though he’s always ignored by Saiki, he still considers his classmate one of his closest friends and helps him out whenever he can.
3 Kousei Arima, The Talented Young Musician Who Found Happiness In His Life From Your Lie In April
Kousei was a popular child prodigy who was resented by several of his peers. Even so, Kousei was always kind and helpful to those who came to him and always maintained his calm even in the worst situations.
A tragic incident forces him to shut off his mind and soul toward music but the arrival of the violinist Kaori Miyazono changes everything in his life.
2 Falco Grice, The Eldian Warrior Candidate From Attack On Titan
Falco is one of the most liked Eldian characters from the series, and for good reason. He is a loyal and reliable soldier and friend who goes to great lengths in order to protect Gabi from harm, even if it meant getting himself involved in danger.
Despite his Marleyan hatred, he is the first Eldian to show kindness toward all the Marleyans who showed him compassion.
1 Ken Kaneki, The Protagonist Of The Tokyo Ghoul Series
Aside from Tanjiro, Ken’s character was perhaps the most popular character Natsuki ever portrayed. Ken started off as a naïve young schoolboy who became a ghoul and believed he could bring the worlds of humans and ghouls together.
He soon realized that was impossible for him, so he gave in to his cold and calculative side and did a lot of questionable things in order to achieve his goals.
