A behind-the-scenes video of the upcoming Disney+ series Turner & Hooch gives a dog’s-eye view of the sets and actors thanks to a camera strapped to the canine star’s back.
In a short YouTube clip, the French Mastiff is shown running around set before the POV switches to the “Live Hooch Cam.” The pup runs into each of the main cast scattered around the sets, starting with series lead Josh Peck. He asks Hooch to give a behind-the-scenes look, and the dog runs off to oblige.
The camera follows Hooch through a kennel set where he greets another dog and meets Vanessa Lengies’ Erica. Then he’s off to meet Chief James Mendez, played by Anthony Ruivivar, by some cast trailers. Hooch moves on to an outdoor obstacle course and an office set, where he’s greeted by Carra Patterson. Moving to a house set, Lyndsy Fonseca asks him what he’s doing while playing tug-of-war with a pillow. Last, Hooch leaves the now-messy house and gets a treat from the craft service table from Ruivivar.

The reboot of the 1989 film starring Tom Hanks changes the main character from a detective to a U.S. marshal. The synopsis for the series reads, “When the ambitious, buttoned-up marshal inherits a big unruly dog, he soon realizes the pet he didn’t want may be the partner he needs.” McG, who is an executive producer, was tapped to direct the pilot back in January.
Created by Matt Nix, Turner & Hooch stars Josh Peck, Lyndsy Fonseca, Carra Patterson, Vanessa Lengies, Anthony Ruivivar, Brandon Jay McLaren and Jeremy Maguire. The series premieres on Disney+ on July 16.
