Red Room — Fantagraphics’ new “cyberpunk, outlaw, splatterpunk” comic book series by writer/artist Ed Piskor — launches its first issue today, May 19. To celebrate the release of one of its highest-selling comics ever, Fantagraphics has provided CBR with an exclusive preview of Red Room #1.
Red Room #1 is 64 pages long. The issue features a main cover by Piskor, as well as three variant covers — one by Piskor, one by Jim Rugg and one by Peach Momoko. Subsequent issues of Red Room will be 32 pages long, with the comic’s story set to unfold in a series of four-issue arcs, which will then be collected into trade paperbacks. 12 issues are planned, meaning a total of three trades will be published.
“In Red Room, criminals livestream murders on the dark web for fun and profit,” an official synopsis for the comics reads. “The series will be told through a series of interconnected, stand alone stories, focusing on unsavory characters that lurk in the most grotesque corners of cyberspace. The murders are a mystery, the victims unknown. Aided by the anonymous dark web and nearly untraceable crypto-currency, business is booming and the viewership is ever-growing.”
Six exclusive preview pages from Red Room #1, as well as all four of the issue’s covers, can be found below.
