Just under a month before the launch of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on the PlayStation 5, the file size was revealed, giving players an insight into how much space the game will occupy on their consoles.
According to Prospero Patches, gamers can expect the latest installment in Insomniac Games’ series to take up roughly 39.3 GB. As far as AAA games go, it is set to be fairly standard in size, which should satisfy PS5 owners who have encountered its fairly limited storage space issue.
It was recently announced that the game had gone gold, yet this reported size only encompasses the base game and does not include the day one patch. As such, users should anticipate some additional storage requirements if they want to install any updates. Patch sizes can vary wildly in size dependent on the state of the game at launch, with more buggy releases such as Cyberpunk 2077 requiring much heftier patches. However, single player games without live services usually don’t receive many updates of consequential size unless there is DLC, of which nothing has been confirmed by Insomniac Games.

The previous game the developers released was Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which launched with an approximately 50 GB storage requirement. That game was fairly short, especially compared to its predecessor, so it may come as a surprise that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will take up less space. Despite the small file size, the game has been stated to fully harness the next-gen hardware, essentially eliminating load times as players shift between levels almost instantaneously.
Developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart arrives on PlayStation 5 June 11.
