The CDC recently eased restrictions on wearing face masks in public places to protect against the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but anyone who wants to see a movie at an AMC theater will still need to mask up.
The AMC Theatres Facebook page has posted a notification to state the company’s policy, with a graphic that reads, “Masks Required For Everyone, Regardless of vaccination status or local guidelines.” This refers to the specifications of the CDC’s updated guidelines, which note that people who are fully vaccinated can resume normal activities, but also notes that exceptions are made for “federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.”

AMC Theatres has experienced massive loss over the past two years, with the pandemic shutting the doors of movie theaters worldwide and some customers wary of returning to the movies even after they were reopened. However, the theater industry has had to face a changing landscape, with many companies shifting their focus to streaming and some major film releases skipping theaters entirely.
