Green Lantern Star Discusses Expectations for His Guy Gardner Costume

While Finn Wittrock has not seen his HBO Max Green Lantern costume yet, he’s still very excited for the chance to play Guy Gardner.

During an Instagram interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Wittrock was asked whether he has received any glimpse of Gardner’s uniform or been called in for a costume fitting. “No suit yet,” he said. “I’ve been reading the comics so I’m very interested to see quite how skin-tight this Green Lantern suit will be because it’s sure to be… yeah so it’s not a whole lot of wiggle room in that outfit.”

Ultimately, the American Horror Story actor admitted he “[hasn’t] really seen much” of the costume since being cast as Gardner, explaining that “It’s still early ’cause we don’t start filming for a while.” He did, however, reveal that a friend whose wedding he will attend this summer asked if Wittrock could just wear his Green Lantern costume to the event instead of a regular suit.

First debuting in 1968’s Green Lantern #59, Guy Gardner was the second human from Earth-1 to be chosen as a Green Lantern of Sector 2814, with his outfit resembling a leather jacket compared to other Lantern uniforms. Aside from Wittrock’s recent casting, the Green Lantern show’s most notable confirmed characters are Alan Scott, the Golden Age Green Lantern of Earth-2 and an original character named Bree Jarta. Garner has frequently appeared in various DC animated shows, with notable voice actors for the character including James Arnold Taylor in Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Diedrich Bader in Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Troy Baker in Young Justice: Outsiders. Production of Green Lantern reportedly began on April 12.

Executive produced by Geoff Johns and written by Seth Grahame-Smith and Marc Guggenheim, HBO Max’s Green Lantern series has yet to receive a premiere date.
