Supergirl’s Last Midseason Finale Is ‘Most Intense Episode’ | CBR

Critical stakes are riding in Supergirl‘s midseason finale, “Fear Knot.”

“This is definitely the most intense episode of Supergirl that I’ve been a part of,” Behr revealed to TVLine. “It seems like all hope is lost and yet, there is that little kernel, and they’re all racing against the clock because the Phantom Zone is crumbling before their very eyes.”

Behr also teased that Zor-El and Kara’s breakout attempt will not only be tested by the Phantom Zone’s guardians but also his own fears as a longtime prisoner there, stating, “The thing with Zor-El is, he’s a man who is broken and has no hope. It’s only through his daughter’s spirit and tenacity that he starts to feel that hope again. The glyph that they both wear on their chest is a symbol of hope, and it’s really difficult to keep that hope alive in a place like the Phantom Zone. But it’s only through Kara’s will and spirit that Zor-El is inspired to look for a way out.”

After being sent to the Phantom Zone by Lex Luthor, Kara was unexpectedly reunited with her father. Though initially reluctant to leave, he agreed to help Kara locate an escape after she and a fifth-dimensional imp named Nyxlygsptlnz, or Nyxly for short, rescued Zor-El. Unfortunately, Nyxly later betrayed both Kara and her father. Meanwhile, due to the recent revelation that Crisis on Infinite Earths splintered the Phantom Zone, Lena Luthor built a device capable of tracking Kara through her DNA. Brainiac-5 and Dreamer traveled back in time to find the device’s power source — a sample of young Kara’s blood.
