In honor of his 60th birthday, George Clooney announced a raffle to meet himself and his wife at their Italian home for lunch.
Revealed in a humorous YouTube video, Clooney begins with, “As soon as this pandemic is over, I want you to come celebrate with Amal and me at our house in Lake Como.” From there, the movie star details his unexpected living situation during the stay-at-home order. After meeting up with a man for a Craigslist sale, Clooney becomes his roommate, terrorizing him with his love of Brad Pitt, Ocean’s 11 and Batman & Robin.
The winner will not only receive the star-studded lunch, but also have their travel and accommodations taken care of. Open until July, the raffle for the event is available through Omaze, the popular donation-based fundraising website. While no payment is necessary to enter, fans can increase their chances by donating in exchange for extra entries. The proceeds from the raffle will go to The Clooney Foundation for Justice (CFJ).
Described on the raffle’s entry page, The Clooney Foundation for Justice “advocates for justice through accountability for human rights abuses around the world. CFJ fights for the rights of individuals unfairly targeted by oppressive governments through the courts and works to expose the corruption that fuels grave human rights violations. CFJ also advances justice for marginalized and vulnerable communities targeted by hate, displaced children deprived of opportunities to learn, and refugees seeking to rebuild their lives abroad.”
Other celebrities have used Omaze to further special causes. In 2017, Robert Downey Jr. offered a lunch on the Avengers: Infinity War set to support his organization, Random Act Funding. Closing May 21, Breaking Bad stars Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston are offering a virtual hang out to support the ACLU Foundation of Southern California.
The raffle for Clooney’s lunch closes July 16 with the winner announced around Aug. 4.
