A new featurette for F9 displays how the ninth installment in the Fast & Furious franchise pulls off its chaotic car chases.
Titled “CAR-nage!” the F9 featurette gives a behind-the-scenes look at the explosions, stunts, and vehicular carnage left in the wake of the film’s action-packed four-wheel mayhem. “Who drives like a bat outta hell?” Roman asks Tej, to which they both respond, “A Toretto.”
Some of the many scenes pulled off by the F9 stunt team include flipping cars and trucks in the air, making them collide, firing missiles. There are, however, two scenes that are worth calling out. The first deals with an accident taking place on a race track, which could possibly provide a look back at the shared history between Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto and his brother, Jakob, played by John Cena. As for the second, it features the ending of Dom and Letty’s wild ride after they whip through the air on a cable attached to a bridge. We see two stunt doubles in their car as it slams into the side of a mountain and tumbles down a pathway. When it finally comes to a rest, Letty tells Dom, “Well that was new.”
Directed by Justin Lin, F9 stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell and Charlize Theron. The film arrives in theaters June 25.
