Why Blood & Guts Will Be Even Better Than AEW’s Original Plan

AEW‘s Maxwell Jacob Friedman, aka MJF, explained why the upcoming Blood & Guts is much better than the original plans involving The Elite

“All the players in this are much more interesting,” MJF tells CBR. “You got MJF in it, and that’s all you really need,” MJF explained. “But outside of that, what I would say is me and Chris Jericho, we’ve been connected to the hip eye to eye, whether as friend or foe now for eight months. That is a long time. This thing has been brewing for a very, very long time. And that’s something I’m proud of, because I’m a very calculated man. And it took a lot of time and effort for me to infest and become a cancer and rot The Inner Circle from within.”

MJF was part of The Inner Circle for eight months, sewing the seeds of distrust in that faction. Finally, the group called him out on his actions and prepared to beat him down, only for MJF to reveal his master plan. He had a new faction, one that he planned to lead, called The Pinnacle.

This group was a mirror image of the Inner Circle, with the all-star tag team, the bruiser, the mid-card guy and the man at the head of the table. MJF put together FTR, Shawn Spears, Wardlow and himself, all with manager Tully Blanchard in their corner, to combat Santana and Ortiz, Sammy Guevara, Jake Hager and Chris Jericho.

The Inner Circle and The Pinnacle go to war on the May 5 episode of AEW Dynamite in a match called Blood & Guts. AEW originally scheduled this specialty match in 2020 with The Elite battling The Inner Circle. Instead, those teams battled in the Stadium Stampede and AEW put Blood & Guts on hold.

Blood & Guts is the AEW version of WarGames. Two men face off in a steel cage surrounding two rings. At timed intervals, a new person comes into the ring, making it a temporary handicap match. This continues until all 10 men are in the ring, and the match ends when someone submits.

MJF went on to note that he feels The Pinnacle brings a lot more to AEW and TNT than The Elite, making them an overall bigger draw for the Blood & Guts match. We’re a much sexier and much more attractive looking group than The Elite,” he said. “And it makes for much better TV for the female demo. I get it.”

Blood & Guts airs on AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, May 5, at 8 p.m. EST on TNT.
