Star Wars: The Bad Batch Video Looks Back at the Clone Wars | CBR

With less than a week until Star Wars: The Bad Batch debuts, Disney has released a new video to catch viewers up to speed on the abnormal Clone squad.

The video provides a highlight reel of Clone Force 99’s skill set, showcasing what separates them from the Galactic Republic’s other Clone Troopers. These include Hunter’s “heightened senses and combat prowess,” Tech’s augmented brainpower, Wrecker’s physicality and Crosshair’s “enhanced vision” as a marksman, all of which are properly demonstrated against legions of Battle Droid. Ending on former Domino Squad member Echo, the video focuses on his final interaction with Captain Rex before officially joining the Bad Batch, with Rex telling Echo, “If that’s where you feel your place is, then that’s where you belong.”

Star Wars: The Clone Wars introduced the Bad Batch members as part of its final season’s first multi-part storyline. Centering on Anakin Skywalker, Rex and Commander Cody’s attempts to figure out how their enemies have been anticipating the Clones’ and Jedis’ strategies in battle, they enlist the help of the Bad Batch in locating the source of the Separatists’ victories. As Rex and the Bad Batch soon learn, that source is a still-living Echo with cybernetic parts, turning their mission from an infiltration to a rescue operation.

A recent trailer for The Bad Batch revealed that the show will focus on Clone Force 99 during the early days of the Republic’s transition into the Galactic Empire after Wilhuff Tarkin, distrustful of the squad’s unruliness, orders their execution. This forces the Clones to go on the run as fugitives with a young boy known as Omega, visiting multiple worlds in the process. The trailer also shows them meeting various established Clone Wars and Disney-era Star Wars characters, like future Rebel extremist Saw Gererra and The Mandalorian‘s Fennec Shand, with both Andrew Kishino and Ming-Na Wen reprising their roles from previous shows.

Created by Dave Filoni, Star Wars: The Bad Batch stars Dee Bradley Baker and Ming-Na Wen. The series premieres May 4 on Disney+.
