The Naruto franchise takes place in a world filled with ninja clans, and certain clans possess unique jutsu or kekkei genkai that make them extremely formidable in battle. The Uchiha Clan is regarded as one of the strongest clans in history, and their fame and strength mostly come from the Sharingan.
This ocular kekkei genkai allows the user to read an opponent’s movements, but it can also see chakra and trap people in realistic illusions. As the series progresses, the Sharingan becomes more and more powerful, to the point where almost no one can defeat it unless they have a Sharingan themselves. Many believe that the Sharingan ruined the series, but even those people would agree that the series would be totally different if it never existed.
10 The Infinite Tsukuyomi Plan Wouldn’t Exist
The Tsukuyomi is a powerful genjutsu that can only be used by someone who possesses the Mangekyo Sharingan. This technique puts a lot of strain on the user’s eyes, and it requires a large amount of chakra, but the end result is an illusion that can leave victims comatose.
Madara’s master plan involved trapping the entire world in an infinite version of this genjutsu by reflecting his Rinne Sharingan on the moon’s surface, and the plan actually worked. Naruto and Sasuke were able to eventually stop the Infinite Tsukuyomi, but the world would have never been subjected to it in the first place if the Sharingan never existed.
9 The Amaterasu Wouldn’t Exist Either
Like the Tsukuyomi, Amaterasu can only be used by someone who possesses the Mangekyo Sharingan. This jutsu allows the user to create black flames that cannot be extinguished, and they are hot enough to even burn fire.
Amaterasu would not exist without the Sharingan, and if that were the case, the Fourth Raikage would have never lost his left arm to Sasuke. Without Amaterasu, Itachi would have not been able to force Orochimaru out of Sasuke’s body, and Sasuke wouldn’t have been able to stop Killer B from killing his friends as the Eight-Tails.
8 Kakashi Would Have Been Less Effective
Kakashi is a skilled ninja who went on to become the Sixth Hokage, and he was capable of using a variety of useful and powerful jutsu. Some of his best jutsu revolved around the Sharingan in his left eye. He obtained it from his friend Obito, and with it, he became known as the Copy Ninja.
This Sharingan came in very handy since it allowed him to not only duplicate an opponent’s hand signs but also use the space-time ninjutsu known as Kamui. If the Sharingan didn’t exist, Kakashi wouldn’t have been able to save Choji from Pain, and if that happened, Naruto never would have learned about Pain’s weakness.
7 The Nine-Tails Would Have Never Been Controlled
The tailed beasts are massive creatures made up of pure chakra, and they all learned to distrust humans because they captured them and turned them into weapons. The Nine-Tailed Fox is the strongest of the tailed beasts, and he was able to be controlled by the Sharingan.
Madara used his Sharingan to force the Nine-Tails to fight alongside him when facing Hashirama, and Obito later used his Sharingan to make the Nine-Tails attack the Leaf Village. If the Sharingan didn’t exist, the village wouldn’t have been attacked, and the Fourth Hokage wouldn’t have died to save the village.
6 Madara Wouldn’t Have Been So Dominant During The Fourth Great Ninja War
Madara was by far the strongest character resurrected during the Fourth Great Ninja War, as he was able to wipe out thousands of ninja in a single battle all by himself. The legendary Uchiha was able to take down dozens of ninja with taijutsu, and he then dominated the battlefield with his Susanoo.
If Madara didn’t possess the Sharingan, he wouldn’t have been able to decimate the Allied Shinobi Forces with such ease–in fact, he likely would have been captured and sealed. His Susanoo nearly killed the 5 Kage, but the massive avatar only exists because of the Sharingan.
5 Shisui Uchiha’s Eye Wouldn’t Have Helped Stopped The Edo Tensei During The Fourth Great Ninja War
Prior to his death, Shisui was regarded as one of the strongest Uchiha alive, and that is because he was one of the only clan members at the time who possessed the Mangekyo Sharingan. Shisui’s Mangekyo allowed him to use Kotoamatsukami, which is a powerful genjutsu that allows the user to mind control individuals.
After losing an eye to Danzo, Shisui gave his other eye to Itachi, who used it during the Fourth Great Ninja War to break free of Kabuto’s Edo Tensei. If it wasn’t for the Sharingan, Itachi would have never stopped the Edo Tensei, which would have resulted in even more casualties for the Allied Shinobi Forces.
4 Orochimaru Might Have Never Gone After Sasuke’s Body
Orochimaru is one of the strongest ninja the Leaf Village has ever produced, and he was obsessed with obtaining immortality. It is thanks to this quest that he developed a technique that allowed him to take over another person’s body, and when he failed to take Itachi’s body, he went after Sasuke’s.
Orochimaru wanted to find the perfect body, and he believed that a pure Uchiha with the Sharingan would be the best candidate. If the Sharingan didn’t exist, Orochimaru would have never sought out Sasuke and offered him power, which means that Sasuke would have never left the Leaf Village.
3 Izanagi’s Ability To Alter Reality Wouldn’t Exist
Izanagi is one of the Sharingan’s many uses, and it is arguably the best ability that the eye has to offer. A normal genjutsu targets an individual’s senses, but Izanagi casts a genjutsu on reality itself, which means that the user actually controls what is real for a short period of time.
This jutsu is basically a cheat code because the user can reverse their own death with it, but they can only use it once because their eye will lose its light permanently. If the Sharingan didn’t exist, Madara would have never been able to use Izanagi to revive himself after his final battle with Hashirama, and Obito would have died while fighting Konan.
2 The Uchiha Clan Massacre Might Have Never Happened
The Uchiha Clan was regarded as the Leaf Village’s strongest clan for decades, but the Nine-Tails attack caused many of the villagers to distrust them. This resulted in the Uchiha being sectioned off from the rest of the village and placed under close surveillance.
This did not sit well with the Uchiha, who planned to overthrow the village’s leadership. Itachi knew that this coup would result in a disastrous civil war that would ultimately destroy the village, which is why he agreed to massacre the clan to avoid even greater bloodshed.
1 If The Sharingan Didn’t Exist, Neither Would Madara’s Rinnegan
The Rinnegan has many uses, which is why it is considered to be the strongest visual kekkei genkai in the series. A Rinnegan user has the ability to summon massive creatures, read minds, steal souls, and absorbed all forms of ninjutsu. They can also augment their body with mechanized armor and weaponry, and control attractive and repulsive forces.
Normally, only members of the Otsutsuki Clan can acquire this all-powerful eye, but Madara was able to get it by taking some of Hashirama’s cells into his body. This only worked because Madara and Hashirama were reincarnations of the Sage of Six Path’s sons. When Madara awakened his Rinnegan, it set off a chain of events that shaped the entire Ninja World.
