WWE Fires Employee Who Sent Trash Bags to Recently Released Talent

Following her recent release from the company, former WWE superstar Mickie James revealed that after firing her, the company sent her belongings to her in a trash bag. Multiple WWE officials have since spoken out on the matter, stating that the company has fired the employee responsible for sending the trash bag.

Earlier today, James sent out a tweet reading, “Dear [WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.] I’m not sure if you’re aware, I did receive my[WWE] care package today. Thank you. #AlwaysBlessedandGrateful #WomensWrestlingMatters.” Attached to the post is a photo of a trash bag with James’ name written on it sitting inside of a cardboard box. James also shared a video of of the trash back to Instagram, in which she says, “This is pretty fucking accurate — how I got my stuff. Thanks, WWE.”

Following James’ initial posts, other former WWE performers said that they received similar packages following their own respective releases, including Jillian Hall and Maria Kanellis. Gail Kim said she was also familiar with this practice, which is of note, as Kim has not wrestled for WWE since 2011, which implies this has been going on for some time.

Semi-retired WWE superstar Triple H, who is the company’s current Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development, issued a statement in a Twitter post of his own, announcing that the person responsible had been terminated. “Upon learning of the disrespectful treatment some of our recently released talent received on behalf of the company, we took immediate action. The person responsible for this inconsiderate action has been fired and is no longer with [WWE],” he wrote. Triple H’s post was echoed by retired wrestler John Laurinaitis, who currently serves as head of Talent Relations at WWE.

Meanwhile, Stephanie McMahon — WWE’s Chief Brand Officer — responded directly to James, writing, “I am embarrassed you or anyone else would be treated this way. I apologize personally and on behalf of [WWE]. The person responsible is no longer with our company.”

While none of the aforementioned WWE officials named the person that was fired for this incident, multiple sources — including Wrestling Inc., Fightful, WrestlingNews.co and The Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer — report that WWE has parted ways with Mark Carrano, the company’s Senior Director of Talent Relations. However, WWE has yet to officially confirm this. The company has also not confirmed whether or not Carrano’s apparent firing stems directly from the trash bag incident.
