There’s a reason DC Comics has had so many different Crisis events over the years— the DC multiverse is pretty confusing. After the multiverse was made into one universe after Crisis on Infinite Earths, more universes kept popping up, which eventually led to a handful of other events. Eventually, with the events of Flashpoint, a new multiverse was created that contained the New 52.
Made up of 52 different universes that all center around DC’s main continuity, these Earths were (mostly) solidified in Grant Morrison’s The Multiversity series, where they’re known as “The Orrery of Worlds.”
48 Earth O: Holds DC Comics’ Main Continuity
Also known as New Earth or just Prime Earth, this is the “foundation stone” of the New 52’s multiverse where all of the main character continuities live.
47 Earth 1: Has A Handful Of Superheroes Just Starting Out
While the New 52’s stories in Prime Earth are focused around metahumans only being in the public eye for five years, this universe shows Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Teen Titans, and Green Lantern in their first year or so.
46 Earth 2: The Next Generation Of Heroes From DC’s Golden Age
This universe has new characters taking on the mantles of Golden Age Superman and Batman, who had died in a war against Darkseid prior to the events in the comics.
45 Earth 3: Home To Evil Versions Of The Justice League
The evil version of the Justice League, the Crime Syndicate of America is led by Ultraman and is made up of evil villains like Superwoman, Owlman, Johnny Quick, and Power Ring.
44 Earth 4: A World Modeled After Characters From Charlton Comics, With Elements Of The Watchmen
In this world, all costumed heroes are without powers and the only metahuman is Captain Atom, who shares elements with his Prime Earth counterpart as well as Dr. Manhattan.
43 Earth 5: Home Of The Marvel Family & Known As “Thunderworld”
Modern versions of characters from Fawcett Comics, this Universe is home to DC’s Captain Marvel (aka Shazam!), Mary Marvel, and Captain Marvel Jr.
42 Earth 6: Home Of The DC Characters From Stan Lee’s “Just Imagine…” Series
Stan Lee’s versions of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman live on in this universe. In this universe, Batman is a former wrestler and Superman is a space cop.
41 Earth 7: DC’s Version Of Characters From Marvel Comic’s Ultimate Marvel Universe
The people and beings living in this universe were targeted and killed by The Gentry, with the only survivor being The Thunderer, based on Marvel’s Mighty Thor.
40 Earth 8: DC’s Version Of Characters From Marvel Comics
This world is similar to Earth 7, or maybe it’s the other way around. Earth 8’s Bug, American Crusader, and Frank Future are DC homages to Spider-Man, Captain America, and Mr. Fantastic, respectively.
39 Earth 9: A World Where The Atom Is Earth’s Foremost Superhero
On this Earth, superheroes play a major role in actual real-world events, which includes an escalation of the Cuban Missile Crisis with devastating consequences.
38 Earth 10: Where The Son Of Krypton Was Raised By Adolf Hitler
Instead of landing in Kansas, baby Kal-L landed in Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia and was raised to win World War II for Germany. As Overman, the Kryptonian takes on Uncle Sam’s Freedom Fighters.
37 Earth 11: A World Where The Characters’ Genders Are Changed
Thanks to the Amazons of Themyscira, women took the lead in history which led to superheroes like Superwoman, Batwoman, and Wondrous Man.
36 Earth 12: Home Of Neo-Gotham & Terry McGinnis As Batman
Based on the comics inspired by the DC Animated Universe’s Batman Beyond, this world is in a timeline that is a few decades ahead of Prime Earth.
35 Earth 13: A World Of The Occult, This Earth Has Etrigan As Its Champion
Known as Superdemon, this universe’s Etrigan leads The League of Shadows, a supernatural superhero team made up of Hellblazer, Witchboy, Swamp Thing, and Enchantress.
34 Earth 14: Previously Unknown, This Earth Is Post-Apocalyptic & Dark
Once the home of the Justice League of Assassins, before they were killed by the Prophecy and their Superman ended up kidnapped and imprisoned.
33 Earth 15: A Near-Utopia That Was Destroyed By Superboy-Prime
A once-“perfect” universe, Earth 15 was obliterated by Superboy-Prime in Countdown to Final Crisis after it failed to live up to his standards of a perfect world.
32 Earth 16: A World Where There Are No More Villains Left To Fight
Also known as Earth-Me, this universe is filled with the next generation of DC superheroes who have no reason to fight, as their parents succeeded in defeating evil.
31 Earth 17: Where The Atomic Knights Of Justice Search For Earth 15’s Cosmic Grail
Fifty years after an apocalyptic nuclear war in 1963, this universe’s superheroes search for the lost Cosmic Grail – the only surviving artifact of Earth 15 – as it’s the Atomic Knight’s only hope against Darkseid the Destroyer.
30 Earth 18: Yee-Haw! DC Superheroes In The Old West
Described as a “dustbowl” planet, Earth 18 is a modern world where technology and culture are stuck in the late 19th century, essentially freezing everything in the Old West.
29 Earth 19: A Victorian-era Earth Based On Gotham By Gaslight
Originally filled with steampunk superheroes like Bat-Man and Accelerated Man, this universe was ultimately destroyed by Perpetua, the first creator of the Multiverse.
28 Earth 20: A Binary Universe At War With Earth 40
Even though it takes place in the 2010s, the style of this world is that of the 1930s and 1940s where Doc Fate leads the Society of Super-Heroes against their evil counterparts on Earth 40.
27 Earth 21: Home To DC: The New Frontier
In this universe, JFK was never assassinated and the future seems a little brighter as Golden Age Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman meet Silver Age Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and The Flash.
26 Earth 22: The Universe Of Kingdom Come
In this universe, where violence and lethal force amongst superheroes has become the norm, the destruction of Kansas causes Superman to come out of retirement and try to set the world on a better course.
25 Earth 23: Where Superman’s Alter Ego Is The President Of The United States
Earth 23 is a world where the majority of the superheroes are black, including Prime Earth Wonder Woman’s Amazonian sister Nubia and Kalel, a Superman whose alter ego is inspired by President Barack Obama.
24 Earth 25: Previously Unknown, This Is Home To Alan Moore’s Tom Strong
Initially one of the seven unknown worlds of the New 52, issue #7 of The Terrifics hinted at Tom Strong’s universe being Earth 25.
23 Earth 26: Where The Zoo Crew Prospers
Led by Captain Carrot, the Amazing Zoo Crew is made up of cartoon-ish, anthropomorphized animal versions of Prime Earth’s superheroes who were able to survive a Crisis event thanks to their “cartoon physics.”
22 Earth 29: The Bizarroverse
Technically called Htrae, this is the world of Bizarro-Superman, whose Unjustice League of Unamerica accomplishes nothing as they are “unheroes.”
21 Earth 30: Where Superman Was Raised In The Soviet Union
With a Communist Superman, The USSR became this Earth’s only superpower, that is until Lex Luthor created Bizarro and recruited Green Lantern to combat the “Red Son.”
20 Earth 31: The Pirate Universe
Earth 31 is a post-apocalyptic water world where everyone has become pirates, including Batman who goes by the name Leatherwing.
19 Earth 32: The Amalgamation Universe
In this universe, each superhero of the Justice Titans is an amalgam of two heroes from Prime Earth like Bat-Lantern, Black Arrow, Wonderhawk, and Super-Martian.
18 Earth 33: Our Earth
Also known as Earth-Prime, this is a universe where metahumans are fictionalized in comic books, much like the world we all currently live in. Earth 33, or Earth-Prime, is also the original homeworld of Superboy-Prime.
17 Earth 34: An Analogue For Astro City
Earth 34’s Cosmoville is home to The Light Brigade, a team of superheroes that, along with Earth 35, have been described as “copies of copies” by writer Grant Morrison.
16 Earth 35: A Psuedoverse Created By The Monitors
Another “copy of a copy” universe, Earth 35 is described as a concept space that takes inspiration from other worlds throughout the Multiverse.
15 Earth 36: Superheroes Based On Characters From Big Bang Comics
Home to Optiman, the Iron Knight, and the Flashlight, among others, this world is filled with characters created to pay homage to DC’s Golden Age and Silver Age superheroes.
14 Earth 37: The Grim & Lawless World Of Howard Chaykin’s Works
Taking place in the 1960s, Earth 37 is the universe where Batgirl and Robin take on a female Joker and Bruce Wayne is a detective that becomes Batman after the death of Robin.
13 Earth 38: Where Superman & Batman Aged Normally From The 1930s
In this universe, the original Superman and Batman that debuted in 1938 and 1939 aged like normal, retired, and now, in the 21st-century, their shared grandson Clark Wayne has become Knightwing.
12 Earth 39: Home To The Agents of W.O.N.D.E.R.
A secretive organization of U.N. super-spies, the Agents of W.O.N.D.E.R. use incredible tech that could have shocking consequences to its users.
11 Earth 40: The Binary Universe At War With Earth 20
For five years, the Society of Super Villains, which includes Vandal Savage and Felix Faust, has been locked in a war with the superheroes of Earth 20.
10 Earth 41: Superheroes Analogous To Those Found In Image Comics
The nations of this Earth are fully isolated from each other for the most part and include heroes the Nimrod Sqaud, which is made up of heroes who are combinations of Image Comics and DC Comics characters.
9 Earth 42: The Chibi Justice League
This world is made up of chibi versions of various DC characters that never knew death or violence until the Superdoomsday of Earth 45 killed their Superman.
8 Earth 43: The Universe Where Everyone’s A Vampire
Inspired by Batman & Dracula: Red Rain, this Earth’s Justice League is known as the Blood League.
7 Earth 44: Where The Justice League Is Made Up Of Robots
In this universe, a Dr. Will Tornado creates robotic versions of the Justice League to fight evil, like Gold Superman, Iron Batman, and Platinum Wonder Woman.
6 Earth 45: Where Superman Was Created By A Corporation
This universe’s Superman was financially backed by a greedy corporation called Overcorp, which went on to develop Superdoomsday, a villain that killed Earth 42’s Superman and Earth 36’s Optiman before being taken down by the Supermen of Earth 23 and Prime Earth.
5 Earth 47: A Groovy, Psychedelic World Straight Out Of The Idyllic 1960s
Instead of a Justice League, Earth 47 has a Sunshine Superman who leads the Love Syndicate of Dreamworld with far-out flower power, man.
4 Earth 48: Also Known As Warworld
A universe where everyone is a metahuman, the world is ruled by Lord Volt and Lady Quark, and genetically engineered warriors are created to take on the evil Lord Darkseid.
3 Earth 50: Home To The Justice Lords Of The DCAU
This universe’s Superman has killed President Lex Luthor, which leads to the Justice Lords creating a police state like the one in the 2003 Justice League episodes.
2 Earth 51: Home of Kamandi, The Last Boy On Earth
With his friend Prince Tuftan of the Tiger-Men, Kamandi makes his way through an Earth of wilderness and survival, where humanoid animals are the prominent species.
