Resident Evil: How & When to Experience the Limited Demo, 8 Hours in Village

Capcom has recently announced that players will be able to get their hands on a playable demo for Resident Evil Village, but it’s only for a short time. The demo will be released for PlayStation users earlier than the other consoles and will come as two separate thirty-minute sections, with one being set in the titular village and the second in the castle.

PlayStation users will get their hands on the demo first in the form of two distinct demo areas for an eight-hour window, playfully called “8 Hours in Village” by Capcom. A third demo period will combine the two into one 60 minute demo, albeit with a very limited time to play it.

The PlayStation demos start with two separate demos released within a week of each other. The first demo, which will be available from April 17 at 8 PM EDT to April 18 at 4 AM EDT, will allow players to explore the village area and hopefully gain some understanding of the game’s lore, or even find some of the secrets hidden around the village. The second PlayStation exclusive demo gives access to the castle. Here, players may be able to gain some insight into the true nature of Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters. It would also be a good area to get an idea of what the combat in Resident Evil Village will be like, maybe a potential mini-boss fight. PlayStation owners can access this demo starting at 8 PM EDT on April 24 through April 25 at 4 AM EDT.

The playful “8 Hours in Village” name comes from Capcom’s release window of eight hours for each of the PlayStation exclusive demos. According to Capcom, these demos allow you to explore with no restrictions; however, you’re only able to play the demos for a 30 minute period within the eight-hour window.

The Microsoft and Steam version of the demo releases in May and will consist of both sections in one drop rather than two separate sections, allowing players to choose where they begin and how much time they spend in each area. Players will have up to 60 minutes of playtime available to explore both areas and can continue or replay as often as they want, so long as it is still within the hour. The open demo period begins May 1 at 8 PM EDT and ends May 2 at 8 PM EDT. In addition to the demos, Capcom will be allowing players to pre-load the demos. PlayStation players can pre-load the demo starting April 15 at 7 PM EDT through May 2 at 8 PM EDT, while the Xbox and Steam demo can be downloaded from April 29 at 8 PM EDT through May 2 at 8 PM EDT.

Players have been excited for Resident Evil Village ever since its announcement. With Capcom finally giving a chance for players to try out the game, it is now the time to see what the next installment has in store for its fans. Make sure you book your slots so that you too have a chance to play the game and enjoy a small part of one of the most anticipated games this year.
