Helen McCrory, who starred as Polly Gray in Peaky Blinders and Narcissa Malfoy in the final Harry Potter films, has died at the age of 52.
Damian Lewis, McCrory’s husband, shared the news of her passing on social media. “I’m heartbroken to announce that after an heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family,” Lewis wrote on Twitter. “She died as she lived. Fearlessly. God we love her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brightly. Go now, Little One, into the air, and thank you.
Born on Aug. 17, 1968, McCrory had a long and accomplished acting career, appearing in Interview with the Vampire, Charlotte Gray, The Count of Monte Cristo, Casanova, The Queen, Hugo, Skyfall, Peaky Blinders, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 and Penny Dreadful.
Lewis and McCrory were married in July 2007, and have a 14-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old son. The couple were co-founders of Feed NHS, a non-profit campaign that raised money to feed NHS workers.
