Hasbro has introduced the first-ever auto-convertible Transformers toy.
Announced at the April 9 Hasbro Pulse Fan Fest, Hasbro teamed up with Robosen Robotics to create a fully functional Optimus Prime collector’s item, introduced as the “Transformers Optimus Prime Auto-Converting Programmable Advanced Robot.” The robot is now available for pre-order at Hasbro Pulse for $699.

Robosen Robotics is a company that specializes in robotics, of course, as well as digital drive technology, artificial joint driving algorithms, artificial intelligence, programming and more. Robosen and Hasbro’s Transformers collaboration is, according to the press release, 11 years in the making and is the first-ever interactive, programmable consumer robot with functions including automatic movement from vehicle to robot, bipedal walking ability as well as racing in its vehicle form. The robot is also mobile controlled through either voice commands or via a mobile app which is available through either the Apple or Android app store and can be used to program or customize your Optimus Prime.

The Optimus Prime Robot is complete with his authentic G1 design but also comes with his Battle Axe and Blaster. The robot stands at 19″ tall when in robot mode and is equipped with 80 sound effects, along with built-in speakers and two microphones. The Autobot leader’s 25 voice commands include classics like, “Roll out!”, “Convert” or “Attack!” Along with that, his 60 microchips, 5000 components and 27 servo motors allow him to auto-convert on command.
Optimus Prime also comes with a protective travel case, a charging cable and a built-in Lithium-Ion battery.
