Show creator Ryan Murphy is enlisting the help of fans to expand the American Horror Story universe.
“The American Horror Story universe is expanding,” Murphy said on Twitter, asking fans to comment which “story” they’d most like to see as an expansion of the AHS universe, likely for the upcoming spinoff series American Horror Stories. The options are Aliens, Christmas Horror, Bloody Mary, Piggy Man, Sirens and Plague.
American Horror Stories was announced in May 2020 as a companion series to AHS proper and, according to Murphy’s announcement on Instagram, will consist of standalone, one-hour episodes. Details surrounding the series are scarce, but AHS star Sarah Paulson has confirmed she will be involved as a director.
In March, Murphy revealed the title and theme of American Horror Story Season 10 would be “Double Feature,” with plans to explore two stories in one. American Horror Story: Double Feature will consist of two mini-series, according to Murphy, describing the installments as “two horrifying stories…one by the sea [and] one by the sand.”
Days before the announcement of this two-part season, Murphy dropped a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Season 10, which featured two vampiric figures standing in the middle of a suburban street. There was also speculation that the season might feature a Jaws-like storyline, though that has not been confirmed.
American Horror Story Season 10 stars Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, Finn Wittrock, Frances Conroy and Macaulay Culkin. It will premiere on FX in 2021.
