The fall of Shiganshina was arguably Attack On Titan‘s most soul-rending moment. It included the death of Eren’s mother and the indiscriminate slaughter of countless Eldians due to the actions of Marley’s warriors.
As horrific as it was, the strength of its perpetrators was admittedly formidable. In seconds, they destroyed the outer water and damaged the interior, all while obviating the wrath of Paradis’ panicked defenders. Through identifying how other anime giants would fare under similar circumstances, we can better glimpse the value of Shiganshina’s defenses and how impregnable it actually is.
10 WOULD FAIL: Annie Leonhart’s Titan Is Designed For Precision, Not Power (Attack On Titan)
Annie Leonhart was the user of the Female Titan and the only member of the Warriors at the time not to have participated in Shiganshina’s downfall. This was for good reason; though she is a profoundly capable fighter, her abilities have low destructive potential.
Lacking Reiner’s armor or Bertholdt’s size, she could only hypothetically order pure titans to help them devour as many civilians as possible and therefore increase the casualties Paradis suffers. However, she would never be able to break down the walls with her hardened knuckles alone.
9 WOULD DESTROY: Yammy Could Disintegrate The Walls With A Cero (Bleach)
Yammy was the most powerful member of the Espada after he released his stockpiled spiritual energy and activated his Resurrecion form. A single blast was strong enough to detonate a massive radius, rendering him capable of disintegrating Shiganshina’s walls.
Moreover, he is capable of persevering after having any of his limbs sliced off. Therefore, in the unlikely scenario that the Scouts should harm him, what injuries he suffered would be inconsequential. Considering that he defeated Ichigo on multiple occasions, not even Levi would stand a chance against him.
8 WOULD FAIL: Mt. Lady Has Low Durability & Isn’t Cut Out For Demolition (My Hero Academia)
Mt. Lady’s quirk allowed her to increase her size and strength, fulfilling niches that other heroes might not (such as sheltering dozens of innocent civilians in a matter of moments). However, she is barely even taller than an average skyscraper in this state.
Consequentially, Shiganshina’s walls (which Bertholdt was barely able to peek over at a staggering sixty meters tall) would be far too daunting for her to break down. This is especially true since she cannot harden her body and mount a devastating attack.
7 WOULD DESTROY: Kurama Has Experience In Destroying Civilizations (Naruto)
Kurama was the strongest Tailed Beast in Naruto, vastly surpassing his peers in raw martial prowess. He is experienced in destroying civilizations, as proven through the destruction he brought upon Konoha.
Considering how ardently the Leaf’s shinobi struggle to contain him, it follows that the Scouts would have even less success (especially after a hundred years of inactivity and no sealing jutsu). The monster would bring down the walls with a single Tailed Beast bomb, creating an opening for the titans to invade.
6 WOULD FAIL: Doctor Stylish Has An Exploitable Weakness (Akame Ga Kill!)
Doctor Stylish became a monstrous juggernaut in his evolved state. Possessing some of the most unconscionable raw strength of the entire series and hardened skin to match, it follows that he might bring down Shiganshina’s walls with similar success to Reiner.
However, his human body is vulnerable at the top of his hulking frame, providing a weakness even larger and more exploitable than the nape of any given titan’s neck. This would allow the Scouts a reasonable means of vanquishing him before their home is destroyed.
5 WOULD DESTROY: Drole Can Crack The Earth Itself Effortlessly (Seven Deadly Sins)
Drole’s giant dance was capable of terraforming vast swathes of earth in a matter of seconds. This was how he and Gloxinia were able to create a maze for Diane and King during their confrontation.
While it’s uncertain whether or not the Commandment wields the raw strength to crack the walls by himself, he wouldn’t need to. Through modifying the earth it’s founded upon, he could effectively rip the walls apart and provide an abundant opening to the titans for a full invasion. Should the Scouts attempt to harm him, he could harden his body into impervious steel.
4 WOULD FAIL: Envy Is A Great Infiltrator But Lacks Brawn (Fullmetal Alchemist)
In their true form, Envy was a massive creature addled with dozens of faces. He was a difficult threat for the Elric brothers to contend with and proved a greater challenge for Mustang to defeat than Lust.
While the homunculus may be an excellent shapeshifter (allowing him to damage Paradis from within as the Warriors had), he possesses low destructive caliber and is dwarfed by Shiganshina’s defenses. This makes it highly improbable that he could launch a successful invasion from the outside.
3 WOULD DESTROY: The Emperor’s Imperial Arms Can Simulate Small Nuclear Level Explosions (Akame Ga Kill!)
The Emperor possessed the strongest imperial arms of Akame Ga Kill!. When inside his gigantic construct, he was able to unleash explosions potent enough to raze entire districts and reduce them to smoldering embers.
It follows that the caliber of such an attack would sunder Shiganshina’s walls and prompt an invasion. Because he is hidden within a metal shell and since his weak spot is between his legs rather than the nape of his neck, the Scouts would be unprepared and ill-equipped to defeat him.
2 WOULD FAIL: Broggy Has Shown Weakness To Conventional Weapons (One Piece)
Broggy the Ogre was a giant who has fought for over a hundred years. Armed with a durable sword and shield, the battles he waged against his rival shook the forests themselves and illustrated that he might destroy Shigashina if he charged at it headlong like a battering ram.
However, he is just as vulnerable to explosives as Dorry and was easily immobilized by Mr. Three. This entails that if the Scouts were to find a way to make him swallow an explosive (such as a thunder spear), he would be trivial to defeat.
1 WOULD DESTROY: Shukaku’s Sand Physiology Would Make It Difficult For Enemies To Retaliate (Naruto)
Shukaku is not nearly as strong as Kurama and should therefore be more manageable for the Scouts to defeat. However, his sand physiology introduces a new element to the battle that his adversaries are ill-equipped to contend with.
Since Gaara is not attached to Shukaku’s forehead in his primordial state, the Scouts would have no weak spots by which to exploit. This would allow the monster to destroy Shiganshina’s walls with relative safety through the unparalleled power of a Tailed Beast Bomb.
