Acclaimed actor Jessica Walter passed away peacefully on March 24 at the age of 80.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my beloved mom Jessica,” Walter’s daughter Brooke Bowman said. “A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on screen and off. While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.”
Walter’s acting career began in the early 1960s, quickly jettisoning from stage to television and eventually film. She is perhaps best known for playing the Bluth family matriarch Lucille in Arrested Development and Malory Archer in the FX animated series Archer. She also voiced Granny Goodness in Harley Quinn and Fran Sinclair in Dinosaurs, and has featured in Grand Prix, Play Misty for Me, The Flamingo Kid, Ghost in the Machine, Columbo, Hawaii Five-O, Amy Prentiss, The New Adventures of Wonder Woman, Magnum, P.I., Babylon 5, Just Shoot Me, The Big Bang Theory and much, much more.
Over the course of her career, Walter was nominated for or won numerous accolades, including Primetime Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
