Fall Guys’ Latest Update Is Great for New Players | CBR

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has become one of the most entertaining battle royale games to be released in recent years by being different from its contemporaries like Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends. The game has players compete in various mini-games to stay in the running to be the last player standing. However, those that lose are kicked out of the competition entirely and forced to start all over. The amount of pressure and competitors in a round can feel daunting when playing alone for some players. Thankfully, the game’s newest season has found the perfect solution.

Season four of Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has offered a fun change of scenery to introduce their ’80s theme. The new theme features exciting new outfits, from aliens to astronauts and, of course, big hair. New mini-games are also being included in a neon and synth-style made famous in the era. Some of these games are also included in the new Squad Mode, making for a great starting point for new players.

Squad Mode takes teams of four and pits them against each other in typical Fall Guys fashion. However, the major difference in this mode versus solo play is that if a player is eliminated, that doesn’t mean that they are out of the game entirely. The new mode features a heavy focus on teamwork, and that means that so long as one player on the team standing, there is a chance that everyone can win.

Two new game modes have been released for squads titled: Squad Race and Squad Survival. Race’s rules are pretty simple: Have the team cross the finish line with the highest finishers getting the most points and the lowest risk elimination. Squad Survival is all about staying out of the slime. The team that survives can advance while the lowest scoring teams will be eliminated.

Fall Guys‘ controls are simple to understand but become difficult to master when playing the game. There are many moving parts once a round starts, and its natural tone of urgency encourages players to think frantically and make mistakes. Squad Mode takes all of that and removes some of the pressure of winning by making things a team effort. With other players to rely on, new players won’t feel so intimidated by the high number of players who can appear in a given round and still feel fresh even for veterans.

With so many online and battle royale games releasing on consoles, gamer’s urge to continue playing can feel daunting. The pressure feels added even more when there is a possibility of getting left behind in skill when a player takes a hiatus from the game. With an addition like Squad Mode, new players won’t have to worry about being left behind as the game’s developers have made sure to focus on the fun of teamwork rather than the pressure. That not only benefits new players but Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, as a whole, as there will always be a place for new players to feel comfortable.
