Antony Starr of The Boys has seen the four-hour cut of Zack Snyder’s Justice League and is officially a fan of it.
Calling the Snyder Cut “superior” on his Twitter page, Starr nevertheless admitted that this film was “not built for Cinemas or bladders…I would have needed at least two pee breaks and a half time meal break.” He also singled out Jason Momoa’s Aquaman scenes and hair. Though he did have questions about the film’s underwater physics, asking, “How do they make deep water air bubbles from their movement?”

The Boys and the show’s in-universe marketing have openly parodied the tone and aesthetics of previous Zack Snyder movies like Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Much of Season 2 centered around the production of a Justice League-inspired movie called Dawn of the Seven, which featured the Seven as themselves in a melodramatically gritty story while acting more altruistic than they are off-camera. One particular scene even alludes to Whedon being involved in the movie’s script production, with Homelander mocking Queen Maeve over a bluntly-written conversation with her movie girlfriend by noting how the “Joss rewrite really sings.”
Currently, Zack Snyder’s Justice League sits at a positive, certified fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, a significant improvement from the more negative reception the theatrical version received. Clocking in at four hours, the film offers details from Snyder’s initial vision of the story that never made it into, or were cut from Justice League‘s theatrical film, including a larger exploration of Batman’s Knightmare sequence, Darkseid’s introduction, and a greater emphasis on Cyborg’s origin.
Amazon Studios’ The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as the Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander and Aya Cash as Stormfront. Seasons 3 has yet to receive a premiere date.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ray Porter as Darkseid, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. The film is currently available on HBO Max.
