Boruto: 5 Ways Himawari Is Different From Hinata (& 5 She’s The Same)

The marriage of Naruto and Hinata resulted in two children. Himawari is their younger child and only daughter. Both Himawari and her brother, Boruto, are a combination of their parents. While Boruto seems more like their father, Himawari takes after her their mother. Himawari is a sweet girl who has already shown incredible promise.

She began ninja training at a young age. Her status as a member of the Hyuga Clan has given her the right to be trained in the gentle fist. Her short, dark hair and pale colored jacket give her a similar appearance to a young Hinata. Himawari and Hinata have both a similar temperament and appearance.

Himawari is incredibly close to her brother. Even when Boruto makes mistakes, she is quick to forgive him. Her relationship with her brother is important to her and she doesn’t want that to change.

Boruto has explained that both his sister and mom can have bad tempers. Hinata can be a strict mom. She disciplined her son when he skipped school, and when Himawari was sick, Hinata threw Boruto out of the house when he got too loud.

Boruto has revealed that he is actually scared of his younger sister. When he broke her favorite stuffed toy, she managed to take down their father with one move. Their tempers have made Boruto afraid to anger either one of them.

Himawari is more outgoing, but she is also incredibly caring and considerate towards others. She is shown giving a toy to someone she feels needs it more. Himawari and Hinata both come across as optimistic and generous people.

5 SAME: Both Were Trained To Fight From A Young Age

Hinata’s training began within her family. She was taught to use her Byakugan as well as the gentle first style. Her training didn’t seem to do much good as she was always reluctant to fight. Though when she was forced to fight her cousin, she refused to back down.

Himawari’s training also began at a young age. Like her mother, she was taught to fight in the Hyuga’s signature style. She was shown to quickly master chakra control when she decided to try the Academy’s training course.

4 DIFFERENT: Hinata Favors Cooking While Himawari Prefers Art

Both mother and daughter are shown to have different hobbies. Despite having grown up being treated like a princess, Hinata had an obvious love of cooking, having mastered the skill at a young age.

Himawari has been shown helping her mother in the kitchen, but she has a hobby that is uniquely her own: She absolutely loves art. Her passion for art led to her entering an art competition that she ended up winning.

3 SAME: They Have Incredibly Similar Names

Hinata Hyuga’s first and last names can be translated into English as “place in the sun.” Her name can possibly be a reference to the kind and hopeful disposition.

Himawari’s name contains a reference to her mother’s maiden name. Her name can be translated into English as “sunflower.” In Japanese, the beginning of the word sunflower is a reflection of the same kanji used to write Hyuga. Himawari’s name is also likely a reference to her personality.

By the start of Naruto, Hinata already had a firm grasp on how to use the Byakugan. She already had years of training under her belt. By Naruto: Shippuden, Hinata shows exactly what her kekkei genkai can do. With time, Himawari will no doubt be able to grow her skill as well.
