WandaVision — which recently wrapped up on Disney+ — saw Wanda Maximoff using her powers unlike any before, truly becoming the Scarlet Witch in the process. However, once defeated, Agatha Harkness hinted that there’s a major threat on the horizon with which Wanda might find herself unable to contend. Still, the specific details of this threat are unknown at this time, and there’s a chance it could even be Wanda herself. In this video, we’re going to explain why we think Scarlet Witch might just end up being the one to destroy the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s multiverse.
At this time, it’s pretty clear that the multiverse is going to play a pretty big role going forward. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, for example, makes clear multiple universes will play a role in the MCU’s future, but there’s more than just that. WandaVision teased such things as Nexus Beings and had Scarlet Witch get ahold of the Darkhold at the end. That’s certain to inform just what happens with Wanda when she reappears in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, it’s not totally clear just what shape the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will take. While there’s a good indication the characters that Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox will soon arrive, there’s not much solid information on just when or how that might happen. Right now, there are a lot of potential directions the MCU could go in the future, though exactly which one it will take remains to be seen.
