New Warriors artist Luciano Vecchio has again picked up the torch from Newsarama’s previous weeklong “Amalgam Again” event in which we mashed up Marvel and DC characters to pay homage to the late 90s comic series with the same premise with a second entry in his own series of combined characters. This time it’s a double pairing of the monarchs of two fictional kingdoms, Aquaman/Black Panther and Mera/Storm.
Named Tigershark and Maelstrom, Vecchio’s Amalgams strike a keen balance of undersea Atlantean influence and Wakandan style, with some influence from the movie versions of both Aquaman and Black Panther.
Maelstrom leans into Storm’s classic costume with Mera influences in the color scheme and a deft mash-up of their headdresses/tiaras.
