Marvel artist Luciano Vecchio (New Warriors, Ironheart) picked up on Newsarama’s week-long #AmalgamAgain event, where we pitched new, contemporary mash-ups of Marvel and DC characters based on the 1996-97 crossover.
Jumping off our proposal for a Batman-Iron Man combo the Iron Bat, Vecchio posted his version on Twitter Tuesday evening along with the new contribution NightMonkey, which is an amalgam of live action versions of Nightwing and Spider-Man, proteges of Batman and Iron Man, respectively.
“#Amalgam sketchbook for fun,” Vecchio tweeted. “Inspired by @Newsarama ’s #AmalgamAgain , but I’m basing it on live action versions. If IRONBAT is #IronMan + #Batman, the logical choice for the protegee dynamic is #NIGHTMONKEY (#SpiderMan + #Nightwing , with a nod to #SpiderManFarFromHome )”
The concept actually matched Newsarama’s own original notes for #AmalgamAgain though we referred to him as Night-Spider.
