Actor Timothy Olyphant, who was recently reported as joining the cast of The Mandalorian, was spotted on set filming scenes wearing Boba Fett’s iconic armor, according to /Film – but he’s probably not playing Boba Fett.

Actor Temeura Morrison who portrayed Boba Fett’s father/progenitor Jango Fett in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and who voiced Boba Fett in the most recent remastered edition of the original Star Wars trilogy has reportedly signed on to reprise the role of Fett in live action – though as /Film reports, it’s Olyphant who may be wearing his Mandalorian armor.

So who might Olyphant be playing? Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath Star Wars novels, set in a time period contemporary to The Mandalorian, feature a character named Cobb Vanth – a sheriff in the wilds of Tattooine – who purchased Fett’s armor from scrappers who retrieved it from the wreckage of Jabba’s sailbarge following Fett’s apparent death in the Sarlacc pit in the opening of Return of the Jedi.

/Film speculates Olyphant could be playing Vanth – certainly an appropriate choice given Olyphant’s longtime roles as a lawmen on Justified and Deadwood. But official details of many actors’ roles for The Mandalorian season 2, expected to premiere this fall on Disney+, remain secret.
