DC has announced that Batman: Three Jokers #1 has a new release date: Tuesday, August 25 – with plans for a monthly release schedule thereafter.

“As more stores are finding ways to operate and service their customers, our release schedule is under constant review,” DC’s Senior VP/Editor-in-Chief Bob Harras said in a statement. “From placing orders to on sale, moving Batman: Three Jokers to August will enable more stores to order and sell this incredible story that Geoff and Jason have crafted.”

This three-issue series reunites the Justice League duo of writer Geoff Johns and artist Jason Fabok, picking up on storythreads from that run which revealed three people have been (or still are) the Joker in the DCU; this was later hinted at in DC Universe: Rebirth #1.

“Thirty years after Batman: The Killing Joke changed comics forever, Three Jokers reexamines the myth of who, or what, The Joker is and what is at the heart of his eternal battle with Batman,” reads DC’s previous solicitation for #1. “After years of anticipation starting in DC Universe: Rebirth #1, the epic miniseries you’ve been waiting for is here: find out why there are three Jokers, and what that means for the Dark Knight and the Clown Prince of Crime. It’s a mystery unlike any Batman has ever faced!”

Here’s a collection of all of Fabok and Brad Anderson’s Three Jokers art released to-date.

Originally announced for a fall 2018 debut, Three Jokers was postponed on several occasions but was finally solicited for a June 2020 debut – before the COVID-19 pandemic put the comics publishing schedule in disarray. When DC resumed shipping of titles, Three Jokers (and Generation) was notable for its absence from DC’s revised June schedule.

Batman: Three Jokers will be released under DC’s “Black Label”, which is for readers 17 & up.
