Hot on the heels of announcing its acquisition of Robert Downey Jr.’s Sweet Tooth TV adaptation, Netflix has announced the ensemble cast – which includes some heavyweights.
Christian Convery will play the lead character, Gus, joined by James Brolin as narrator. Others cast in as-yet unspecified roles are Will Forte, Nonso Anozie, and Adeel Akhtar.
“Sweet Tooth is the broad appeal, family-friendly, storybook adventure of Gus – part deer, part boy – who leaves his home in the forest to find the outside world ravaged by a cataclysmic event,” reads Netflix’s description of the show. “He joins a ragtag family of humans and animal-children hybrids like himself in search of answers about this new world and the mystery behind his hybrid origins.”
Sweet Tooth‘s first season will be comprised of eight one-hour episodes, by writer/showrunners Jim Mickle and Beth Schwartz. Schwartz comes off a successful stint as Arrow showrunner, and has an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television – who are producing this show for Netflix.
Netflix has not announced a release date for Sweet Tooth.
