DC Chief Creative Officer and Publisher Jim Lee has been leaning hard into the ‘creative’ part of his title while the ‘publishing’ part has been slowed down due to coronavirus.

Lee is proving through his daily series of sketches raising money for comic book shops through the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (BINC) that demand for his original sketches exist in rarified air. His so-far 20 sketches have generated over $205k in bids.

And that’s good news for Hero Initiative, as Lee has newly-drawn this sketch for the charity’s upcoming Batman 100 Project.

Hero Initiative is dedicated to helping comic book creators in medical or financial need.

Like previous iterations of the project, Hero Initiative asked 100 creators to create original drawings on a variant blank edition of a DC comic book – and in this case, Batman #75 – and they’ll be auctioning off the drawings in the future to raise money for comic book veterans in need.

The dates and venues for the Batman 100 Project auctions are still to be determined (watch this space), but here’s a first look at three of the 100 – drawings from Lee and artists Chris Moreno and Kaare Andrews.
