Warner Bros. Animation’s Scoob! is ditching its plans for theatrical release on May 15, instead going straight to home video. Chalked up to near-complete closure of movie theaters worldwide due to the coronavirus pandemic, Warner Bros. ChairCEO Ann Sarnoff said these times call for “creative thinking and adaptability in how we distribute our content.

“We know fans are eager to see Scoob! and we’re delighted we can deliver this feel-good movie for families to enjoy while they’re home together,” Sarnoff said (via Deadline).

Scoob! will deput on May 15 asa 48-hour VOD rental for $19.99.

Deadline reports that WB currently “has no future plans” to do this for “big pics like Wonder Woman 1984, Tenet, In The Heights…”

Other recent films to scrub theatrical plans for a home video release are Universal’s Trolls World Tour, Paramount’s The Lovebirds, STX’s My Spy, and Disney’s Artemis Foul.
