Marvel Studios postponed May’s Black Widow indefinitely, Warner Bros. pushed back June’s Wonder Woman two months to August and now Sony has taken a third tact – pushing their 2020 superhero tentpole Morbius from July 31 to 2021 due to the coronavirus crisis.

The Jared Leto-starrer was pushed to its new date of March 19, 2021, along with most of Sony’s 2020 slate, including Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife which was moved from Jul. 10, 2020, to March 5, 2021.

An additional Sony-Marvel untitled film scheduled for Oct. 8, 2021 was removed from their schedule without a new date and Tom Holland’s Uncharted was moved from Mar. 5, 2021 to that Oct. 8, 2021 date.

As for the Venom sequel starring Tom Hardy and directed by Andy Serkis, some sources have reported it was scheduled for Oct. 2, 2020, but that date was never officially confirmed by Sony or by some of the Hollywood trades. IGN is reporting Monday night that film has not yet been moved from its Oct. 2 date, but again in their reporting of Sony’s wide-ranging changes, Venom 2 is not mentioned as part of Sony’s 2020 schedule by the Hollywood trades.
